I'd feel safer having the doctor do it than either a jewerly shop or a tattoo parlor.
I also read this same thing. I would like to pierced my baby's ears when she turns 4 months, i think having a doctor do it is fine at her age. If the child is older, like 1 year or more i think its ok to take him/her to a shop.

Angry What in the name of ....

Why would you pierce a 5 month old babys ears apart from if you see your child as your own personal accessory??

She is at risk from painful infections from the gun, pulling them out due to her own poor hand co ordination or other babies pulling on them (which happened to a child at my daughters nursery. A boy reached out to kiss and hug her and pulled her ear by accident ripping the lobe!)

My daughters had them done at age 5 YEARS and I felt that was too young but at least they had it done because the BEGGED and pleaded for weeks and knew what the they were doing.

But i am a qualified ear piercer and after doing th course i myself wouldn't pierce a babies ear.
i can't remember what it was i learnt (its late, i'll remember in the morning lol) but i remember thinking i would never pierce a babies ear.

OUCH! Did the child had on a hoop earring? Our pediatrician does not recommend a hoop earring at all and common sense alone would tell you not too put hoops on a babies ears. He also recommened that we wait a little while until we pierce our baby's ears just becuase she thugs at her ear alot and i agree for that reason...maybe when shes a bit older.

I dont see a problem with getting a baby's ears peirced. I got mine done when i was a baby, and they healed just fine, as with everyone else that i know that had theirs done as babies. I ended up getting a couple more holes put in each ear, and, those ones never healed right. The only holes that dont get inflamed when I wear earrings are the ones that were pierced when I was a baby..not sure if that has anything do do with it, but i thought i would throw that out there....

What would you think about a Goth girl getting her baby pierced? Three in each ear, one through the top of the nose, a lip ring, and maybe a chain connecting the lip ring with an ear?

Scars like that don't just go away.

Default In My Opinion...

I don't think getting a child's EARS pierced is wrong, I wish my mom would have gotten mine done when i was too young to remember. I actually have an appointment for 4:30 tommorrow to get my 19 month old daughters ears pierced. I also did research to find a place that both my fiance and I were comfortable with, I met with a lady two days ago at Carol Visage(they specialize in infant ands kids, and have a special gun that is much safer than the traditional gun)She told me exactly what the do and how things work even going as far as showing me the guns and explaining things to me. As well as answering my questions and concerns. My daughter has clip on dress up earring that she wears all the time constantly asking me to change them or put them back on when the fall off...I think she's going to like them and I was 5 when i had mine done and it wasn't that bad i remember skinned knees hurting for longer.

That wouldn't be what a "goth" girl would do, that would be something an unstable parent would do.

When pierced ears heal, there isn't much of a scar, really. I guess it would depend on the individual, there are a few people who don't heal well, but for the most part, pierced ears that heal over are not noticable.
