Default Calm down

calm down

first of all don't call it masturbation. all kids at this age age like to discover their bodies , they like to touch their private parts especially after they are potty trained.

the most important thing is not to yell at him and tell him to stop in anyway. if you make him stop, he will tend to hide and touch him self.

once you see him doing it redirect his attention to something else such as give hime something , show him something , hug him or start tickling him. just don't let him feel that this is a big deal that makes him focus even more on doing it,

it is normal for all kids not only your son.
p.s my son was like that when he was 3, now he is 4 and completely forgot it.

I agree with housewife,
I think you should try not to make it a big deal because then he is going to do it more, my boyfriend told me that when he was smaller he would experience things like with his body and he was just curious about his body but he was like 4 or 5 years old dont worry Im pretty sure he'll stop

Default It's Natural

I TELL MY SON THAT I UNDERSTAND THAT IT FEELS GOOD BUT THAT IT'S PRIVATE. WHEN I SEE HIM DOING IT I ASK HIM TO PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE PRIVATE TO DO THAT (LIKE HIS BEDROOM). i'M OF THE OPINION THAT SEXUALITY AND ITS EXPLORATION IS HEALTHY AND NATURAL BUT THAT BOUNDARIES MUST BE SET AS WITH ANY OTHER BEHAVIOR. BESIDES THAT, WHAT WE DO NOW AND HOW WE RESPOND SETS THE STAGE FOR THE TEEN YEARS. PERSONALLY, I HOPE FOR AN OPEN AND RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM BY THEN - NO MATTER WHAT THE TOPIC.
