I remember when I was a little kid, my dad came home and sat on the bed. Whether he was tired (he worked nights) or had been at the pub, I can't remember. But I do remember looking at him and, with a great joy of recognition, said "You are DRUNK". I was so pleased with myself that I'd learnt this new word.
Well, the look of sadness he gave me is still with me today.
I wasn't accusing him. I was learning something and delighting in the joy of learning.
Perhaps your daughter was learning what the words meant. I'm HAPPY when someone/ dad plays with me. I'm SAD when someone / mum would hit me. That would make me sad, if it happened.
Wow!! I got it right. Happy - sad. Emotions. What a smart little girl you have.
Now congratulate her on learning about emotions.
And, as others above have said, sit down with her and talk with her about the joy of learning, and the meanings other people put to words.
Then, when she understands and can tell you her thought process, go and talk with the teacher. Use my example if you wish.
I'm mortified now that I upset my dad. At the time, it never occurred to me that Dads COULD be upset. They were invincible.
