Well Dragonfly, it's a bit too late now.

I suppose I can phone her up and apologise
for putting Vicks on her when she was two
weeks old.

I had three, used Vicks when they were
congested.

As I say, they all survived.

Thank for the info Fallen1, i was actually reading about it on that same website earlier on.

Kaylar, i understand what you are saying about the vicks, all my family from home (trinidad) has been telling me to rub her down with vicks, there's also the baby vicks and they say it do work BUT over here the doctors dont want me putting anything on her besides give her the prescription, i even bought a vicks vaporizer to vaporize the room they say thats not nessesary. They gave me saline nose drops to make the mucus thin then a suction thing to suck it out after.
About the Chlamydia i am still very worried about that, i tried to reach my prenatal doctor to find out if i was ever tested for it and i happened to forget but no luck contacting her. I would still like to know if anyone had an eye cold or there kids and it didnt turned out to be because the mother had Chlamydia?

Well, Partricias, I'm from Jamaica, and you know
we don't listen to nobody. I used the Vicks. It
was used on me and no doubt everyone else.

I know it worked.

I almost never gave my children prescription drugs.
In fact, outside of the injection the Doctor gave her
when she was like fifteen so that the chicken pox wouldn't
scar...It was vicks when she had a cold. Maybe once
a contac C I think they call it.

I have asthma and was treated with ganja tea until
I moved to the city then had to get the inhaler.

And a piritan table if she was stung by a scorpion.
Other stings I used meat tenderiser...it's papain
from pawpaw, which neutralises bee stings, wasp,
ant...
and of course sinkle bible, (aloe vera) for burns
or if anything was in the eye.

btw if I knew you were a Trini I would of had
someone to discuss the World Cups...both the
football and cricket...with.

I am an EMT and I know what I am talking about. You need to be careful with such a small baby. The suction bulb works well and humidifiying the room. If the baby ever gets the croup you can bundle the baby and walk outside- the cool air helps them breath better. If you have an eye cold - is it red around the whites of the eye? Does your eye stick together? It can be conjunctivitis - Pink eye. You can get eye drops from the doctor and apply it twice a day for one week. good luck.

Dragonfly, yes they did say she had Neonatal conjunctivitis but what they gave her is a prescription for antibiotics and she made six bowel movements yesterday! I called the doctor and they told me to discontinue the use because she might be too young. I dont know why they are treating her for Chlamydia and the results didnt even come back yet. her coughing got worse, i got a vaporizer that i have in the room to help her with the nasal congestion. Her eyes doesnt look pink around it just has the mucus at the corner and it gets sometimes in her eyes and eyelids, i was thinking they would give her the eye drops i dont know why they didnt give it to her instead of the antibiotic. They want me to bring her back in if she gets worse. Also this morning she did spit up her milk so if shes not eating well i may have to take her in.
Im really frustrated right now, i just want her better. Its hard to look at her so helpless.

Kaylar, i dont know if you ever heard of this but back home they use dew water from outside to put in the eye for an eye cold. Have you heard of this?

Are you taking your baby to a small town hospital or doctor?

Yes, and we also use sinkle bible, (aloe vera).

I can't fathom why they would give you antibiotics
for a baby that young.

I agree with Kayla. Antibiotics should not be so quickly administered to such a small infant. If you are taking your child to a small town doctor or a small town hospital - I would quickly go to a large pediatric hospital and get more reliable care. I almost died and so did my oldest child because I had an emergency c-section in a small town hospital with severe pre-eclampsia and my child was premature - we both were life flighted to a large hospital in the city.
