Pre-eclamspia is a mystery... Doctors are not sure why it happens.. My pregancy with my second child was fine but I was told to not have anymore. I know I am lucky and so is my oldest child. I think that is why I am grateful everyday to be with my kids and to show them that I love them - it's because I came so close to losing my first born and I almost lost my life too. My oldest went into respiratory distress the second night that we were in that horrible hospital - my husband was running around trying to find a doctor and we could not fine one. We sat by my babies side and held an oxygen tube by his face so he could breath. It snowed 3 feet that night and the next day we both were life flighted. No, I do not know about that herb.. I do know that a lot of herbs are just as dangerous as normal medications. I am very cautious with herbs and with medications. I like to be as natural as possible.

Yes, Dragon, you are definately lucky.

As to the herb thing;

In my country we have a lot of natural remedies.
The University of the West Indies is studying a
lot of them, in fact, came up with canabosol
for glaucoma out of ganja.

We know the herbs; we know how to use them.
For example, something we call 'bissy'.

It is for poison.
It works.

What I find scarey are these boxes of whatsit
of 'herbal' whosit that are not subject to any
scrutiny.

They sold them down here, Josie bought them,
took them, got preggers, stopped taking them,
but developed Pre-clamp. (it was her 2nd
child).

Here, you go out in the yard and you dig up
something and deal with it. And you don't
'experiment'. You know that it's a teaspoon
of bissy boiled for how long...or a handful
of ganja boiled until the tea is black.

I lost a lot of confidence in the medical field. I will be suspicious if a doctor writes a prescription for any ailment.. I am glad you are going to a large hospital and please let me know what happens.

So i called my prenatal doctor, which by the way is in the same hospital that the baby is getting her care in. She said i was tested negative for chlmydia and there is no way the baby could have gotten it. Then i called back the doctors who took care of her yesterday and they told me that i do not have it so the baby eye cold is not from chlmydia and thats why they told me to stop the antibiotic. If i didn't called them last night to complain about the amount of bowel movemnts shes been having they wouldnt have told me to not give her anymore.
She does have the RSV virus though, i know she got it from me...
What i want now is for her to get better and im trying my best to make that happen altough there isnt much i can do. I wish there was a quicker way for her to recover than to just wait around. She has a terrible cough it was dry before now when she coughs i hear the cold rackling. Any remedies?
Thank you very much for all the replies.

I know Dragonfly is going to throttle me,
but I'd put vicks on her chest, and dress
her with two teeshirts.

Kaylar now runs from Dragonfly

I'm going to tell you something I did.

When the middle one was born they kept telling
me he was 'yellow' and they had to keep him in
the hospital because he had a high bilirubin count.

I went down the hall to the doctor's office when
she wasn't there, and took down a book on Blood,
and looked up bilirubin.

I then went and bought cod liver oil. I gave him
cod liver oil twice a day, then decided to take him
home, because I notice a lot of bruising on him
where the trainees went to draw blood and missed.

They made a big fuss, but I took him anyway, and
gave him cod liver oil.

He was married two years ago and gave me my
first grandchild.

You may notice he didn't die.
Grow up 'yellow' or stunted
or suffer with his 'high billirubin level'.

Your right Kaylar I am going to throttle you. You should not put Vicks vapor rub on your baby and add layering. It says on the container to let the skin breath after you apply - not smother it. Another thing about a fever - it is a wives tale that you bundle a fever. You actually want to let the air get to the skin to let your body cool off. The best remedy for a fever is to mist the body and let it air dry. Best of luck with your baby and it will just take time. Yellowing of the skin is jaundice. Jaundice is very common in a lot of newborn infants. The natural way to handle jaundice is to put your child by the window with natural sunlight. In the hospital they will put your baby under the "Billi" lights.

Another thought : You could run a humidifier in your infants room or have the baby sleep by you in a bassinett and use the suction bulb constantly. Good luck.
