I'm not against vicks vapor rub... You just need to be safe using it. You should not put it on your childs nostrils ( in case of accidental internal ingestion ) and you should not smother the medication with clothing or wraps. Your skin can absorb the medication and there has been some accidental overdose deaths by applying too much medicational creams to the body.

When our first grandson was born, he became very ill with what your baby has. His cough was terrible and she used the vaporizer like you are doing. Finally after they were up all night with him they were able to get ahold of their ped. This was the same one that I had with my daughter. He told her to take the vaporizer off and let him get used to regular air. That all the moistness is not good for him and hurting the coughing. Told them to immediately take him out the next day into the outside air so that his lungs get used to outside air and get stronger. He was 6 weeks old. I would not go near vapo rub. I recall years ago being told never to put this near your nose yet my parents had me stuff this up my nose when I was young and even into my teen years. I guess this dates us but that was called the "olden" days.

I am no expert as these young women are but I can pass on to you what was passed on to me......I hope she will be well soon.....
