    Default Cold Remedy....that WORKS!!

Didn't know really where to share this...I'm new...but wanted to just the same. I come from a family that is paranoid by doctors and all that comes with them...meaning medication. I am 32 years old and am still chastised by my father if I take a simple ibubrofen or aspirin. Recently, I was staying at my parents home for an extended visit of 4 weeks, while my husband was out of town on business. No sooner did I arrive then the whole family came down with flu like symptoms...including my 2 sons age 6 and 8, myself and my germophobic father. I had read somewhere about an Aussie remedy and I decided to look it up.

    It's as simple as this:
The juice of one lemon....squeezed into a coffee mug...
    2 tsp honey
1 tsp sugar....or more to taste 1 was fine for me
boiling water to fill the cup

I drank this 2ce per day since the onset of the symptoms....I was the only one in the house who did not lose a day of activity. I consumed no medicines....God forbid in that household.....and still was up and running everyday while everyone else was running around feeling sorry for themselves. Even my mother broke down and took ibubrofen to no avail.......on the 4th day while I was making my "remedy" my father asked me to make him some...he's been drinking it ever since and the symptoms have subsided.....leave it to mother nature

Also, drinking a cup of water with a few drops of garlic oil and a teaspoonful of onion juice fight the cold like nothing else

Sorry for double posting. I don't mean to spam the forum. I just wanted to correct myself and I thought I was using Edit function. BTW, where the Edit post button?

    It happens, ......

I agree, although in Australia we were taught off course, to have the honey and lemon, in tea, not coffee... But, off course in America, hot tea? WT? Perhaps we Australians can teach somethings there - on day

When I read your recipe it made me smile. This is the same remedy my grandmother used and I can vouch for this, it works. So thanks for posting and I would recommend trying this if you have a nasty cold.

Default You basically are drinking the traditional "hot toddy" without the rum

Yeah I have been making this "flu-brew" for years...basically it is non-alcohol version of the Hot Toddy.
