i've always wondered what omega 3 is. i've looked it up and i completely don't understand what the big deal is. can anyone kinda "dumb" it down for me? i really want to understand it and i want to know if it's something i should add to my diet.

Omega 3s are vital in the formation of the casing or covering on the nerves as they develop and for repair. It also reduces the plaque that causes hardening of the arteries and lowers triglycerides. Dr. Leo Galland has cited cases where it has apparently halted the mainfestation of schizophrenia in young people as well as being effective in reducing or eliminating a number of other conditions.

You really need this stuff. Some people like fish oil but it does has a risk of heavy metal contamination, just as do the fish it comes from. I prefer Flax seed oil in a capsule form but have used the oil as well. Flax seed oil loses it's benefits when heated and will degenerate into what has been called linseed oil and tastes really nasty, so keep it in the fridge.
