Exclamation Do your vitamins contain too much vitamin A???

I have taken Centrum Performance vitamins once a day for many years in the hopes of maintaining a healthier body. I recently had developed a chronic cough which the doctors could not put their finger on. I discovered that my cough would come and go depending on whether or not I took my vitamins that day. I asked the pharmacist about this and they had no clue what I was talking about. I came to the conclusion that maybe they changed one of their filler ingredients and I was allergic to it? So I just stopped taking them.

Just yesterday, I was watching a health show on tv and discovered something very interesting. They said that most vitamin suppliments contain too much vitamin A. Specifically, they said that most brands contain 3,500 IU of vitamin A when you should only be getting 2,500 IU of vitamin A. So I looked at my bottle of Centrum and sure enough, there was 3,500 IU in there. The health show went on to say that too much vitamin A not only causes de-mineralization of the bones, but also causes LUNG DAMAGE! I immediately wondered if I was unwittingly causing my own lung damage?

So I went on the internet looking for a multi-vitamin with only 2,500 IU of vitamin A. I discovered that Centrum does not offer any less then 3,500 IU in any of their multi-viatmins. In fact, the only one that I could find with 2,500 IU was the "One A Day Women's" multi-vitamins.

So I purchased the "One A Day Women's" and decided to try it. Before, I would take my Centrum and would be coughing and weezing within several hours. The coughing would subside after being off the Centrum for about 24 hours. Would you believe, I have had no problems with the "One A Day Women's" and have been taking it for the last couple of days?

Of course, this is all theory on my part based on what I have discovered, but I think I am on the right track here and just wanted to let you all know to make sure you are not getting too much vitamins! It is bad for your health! Make sure you are getting the proper amount each day.

My Doctor recommended Centrum years ago.
So I buy it, and if/when I remember, I take it..
so 30 tend to last about four months...

Well, that's just what I heard on a health show and I believe it applied to everyone. It wasn't specifically a women's health show. My dad had problems with vitamins too except he broke out in small itchy bumps similar to bug bites. Allergic reaction? Maybe. I am not too sure.

I haven't taken the vitamins in a while and my cough hasn't ever come back. I can't say for sure if I am right, but it seems like too much of a coincidence if you ask me.
