I'm using fitday.com to chart my dietary progress. It calculates % fat, protein, and carbs for me based on the foods I enter. What it doesn't tell me is what % of each I should be aiming for. Does anyone know the right percentages of fats, proteins, and carbs I should be eating each day for moderate weight loss?
Thanks! |

Take what ever your total calorie intake for the day and break it down as follows:
Protein 15-20% Carbohydrates 40-60% Fats 20-30% So if your total calorie intake for the day is 1500 than that 1500 calories should be broke down in the percentages above. This will help your body get the appropriate nutrition that it needs while losing weight. I hope that makes sense and helps. |

I wouldn't just take a general percentage that the average joe goes by. Your percentage will vary according to your blood type, whether you have a slow or fast oxidizing constitution, whether your body has an autonomic or metabolic constitution, and whether you have a sympathetic or parasympathetic constitution. In the book Concious Eating by Gabriel Cousens, you can take a test to determine the best foods for your sytem. The information will help you find foods that your body can digest easily therefore helping you lose weight while giving your body the nutrients it needs and without starving yourself.

.15 x 1,500 would = 225 calories from protein .55 x 1,500 would = 825 calories from carbohydrates .30 x 1,500 would = 450 calories from fat (preferably healthy fats) You can play with percentages but it does give an example. I like a little lower fat, but that's me. |
