Default Energy Drinks

Hello :0)

Some recommendations/suggestions/comments on energy drinks that really seem to do the job - provide energy?

Thank you

Oh my god, you're not going to like this answer but... I have been addicted to energy drink for about 4 years now, maybe longer. First it was redbulls then V's. I still love V's and I miss them already. However, they caused kidney infection/aches in me and I had to stop drinking them asap. I actually ended up in hospital because of them and the doctor ordered me not to drink them.

The taurine or phosphorous in them calcify in the kidneys and cause kidney stones. I didn't listen to the doctor the first time (well, for about a week, I obeyed his rules) but then I started drinking them again and just recently the same thing happened again. I ended up with sore kidneys and a bladder infection - all because of the bloody energy drinks!!

However, after saying all that, if you just want one every once in a while drink the V's! They are sooo nice - the lemon V's especially! Sugar-free V's are the best because they don't taste so sickly sweet.

Anyway, I know that's a bit of a contradicting post but I thought I'd at least warn you so you don't get addicted to them and end up like I did.

Ooh and they also can cause anxiety which I'm now on tablets for!! Seriously, those drinks are evil little buggers.

I'd shy away from them, personally.

If you're lacking energy, it's probably something nutritional and you need to improve your diet. Or you're not getting enough sleep, not providing enough time for recovery (as in working out too much), dehydrated, etc.

To put it frankly... turning to energy drinks is like patching a leaking pipe with some duct tape. It doesn't really fix the problem.

Coffee has caffeine in it.

So do most energy drinks, lol.

There's nothing magic going on with them. Shoot, you could simply pop some caffeine pills to get the same effect, though I'm not suggesting you do.

Supplements should be the last thing people focus on... long after they get their nutrition and exercise basics figured out.

Too many people put the cart before the horse.

As for your friends, just b/c it helps them doesn't mean it's the right thing to try. They too are patching a leaking pipe with duct tape. Also, placebo is stronger than you'd think.

Sheesh...do you know everything or what? I wish I had known about this site earlier, coulda saved myself alotta money...

Thats true, about my friends and I, but I wouldnt know if it worked for me until I tried it right? However, I dont want to risk anything that sounds so dangerous...I didnt realize there were so many issues associated with energy drinks...

Lol, I'll try not to put the cart before the horse in future...

Thank you

Personally, I don't do energy drinks, they make me jittery, but I don't drink coffee either. Aside from my love for margaritas , I have one Diet Dr Pepper a day, the rest water.

The more active you become, the more energy you'll have honey. It takes work, but all good things do.

And it's all up to perception, but there is something to be said about how good a daily multivitamin can make you feel. I take GNC's Women's Ultra Mega and I can definitely tell if I miss a day.

Good diet, plenty of water, resaonable exersize and a good attitude are what you need. Energy drinks before or during intense activity have killed people.
