    Default Vitamixer? Juicer?

I have a juicer and much as I like the juice, I don't use it much because it seems really wasteful and a pain to clean up. Someone near and dear to me is thinking about buying a vitamix and asked what I thought of them - are they worth the price tag? It does seem it would be less wasteful.
Anyone have experience with one? Is it likely to end up like his gym membership? Used heavily for a month or two and then gathering dust? Or is it so good it's likely to stay in use?

I know of someone who does, and like what you stated, it stayed in a "safe place" as well.
