Arrow Very unhealthy diet, But don't gain weight!

I was wondering if anybody can help me..
I have the most terrible diet. All I eat is junk food, NO vegetables. NO meat. At all. Nothing very nutricious at all.

The main things I eat are:
Crisps(ALOT of crisps), baked beans, french toast, yorkshire puddings and gravy, curry potnoodles. .. not very healthy to say the least.
(I'm not a very big fan of sweet things)

I have abit of an issue with the textures of foods, I have had since I was around 6-8 years old.

You'd think that eating only junk food would make me really fat but I'm the complete opposite, I want to gain more weight!

    I'm 16, about 5 foot 5 and about 7 and a half stone. I've been this weight since I was 11..
(just before I was 14 I had an operation for scoliosis where my weight dropped to almost under 7 stone .. if this helps?)

I look alot skinner than I am, some people have even thought I was anorexic, though I am FAR from it. It really bugs me

I also have been told my BMI shows I'm underweight (its 15.3).. But I eat ALOT and it's impossible for me to eat more.

    Any help? Please

I'm not sure what you're asking but the reason you're not gaining weight is because you're not putting anything in your body that it can use. You're getting away with it (sort of) right now because you're 16, but in 5-10 years you'll be in dire straights if you don't completely change your eating habits.

    Hello busybee

Im also trying to gain weight, im trying to gain 10 kilos. My metabolism is so fast im on herbal meds to slow it down.

My whole family is like this and for them the only way they gained weight was going ot the gym and doing weight lifting to build muscle because muscle is weight. (Its healthier than fat)

So im now joined at a gym to gain weight, my personal trainer also put me on a specific diet and this is what he said:

Stay away from sugar, if you want chocolate or anything like that eat it after working out else stay away.

Also eat low gi food...such as wholemeal rice and wholemeal pasta

Theres heaps more but my memory is limited.

Im a fussy eater so its a tough decision but in the end i decided that i got to change else im going to go crazy!

The foods you listed you dont need to stop eating them, limit them and eat some proper food. Also for people like you and me who are trying to GAIN weight...eating all the time isnt going to help at all. Space out your meals and give your body enough time to realise it has to hold onto the food you give it before having another meal. Aim for 6 meals a day with maybe 2-3 hour gaps.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck xox

Eating healthy foods doesn't just make you lose weight. It should make your weight reach an ideal. If you are underweight you should gain weight. Your body gets what it needs but not a bunch of stuff it doesn't. Meat and vegetables can actually make you just as fat as junk food if you eat more than you need. There are plenty of fat farmers around here eating meat and vegetables at every meal with little time for junk food. They just eat huge meals. Seriously I can't down 1/4th in a day of what some of these people eat in a meal. If you actually eat balanced meals in the amount your body needs and get exercise you will end up at the ideal weight whether that's with more weight or less.

Not eating what your body needs is going to cause some serious issues. Far beyond looking too skinny. Try stretch marks the next time you hit a growth spurt. I have some on my thighs and a couple over my hips from a time while I was a teenager that I only ate one bad meal a day. Stretch marks aren't just from gaining weight. They are from the skin not having what it needs to stay flexible and healthy. Usually that becomes most obvious when you gain some weight and start to stretch it but the initial cause is a nutritional one so it can happen under any circumstance. You can also give yourself brain damage. Part of my insomnia which will probably mean lifetime medications is thought to be from a severe b vitamin deficiency especially b12 which is found in animal products and helps develop the nervous system. Vegans are generally the only ones to suffer b12 deficiency but if your diet is also causing stress on your digestive tract it can damage the part of the intestine that absorbs b12. While we're on the subject a diet of junk food stressing your digestive tract and doing that damage can also result in another health problem I have. Lactose intollerance which I suddenly developed one year. I could eat ice cream by the gallon container when I was younger but my intestines stopped producing the enzyme needed to digest the sugar in milk so no more ice cream. I'm happy if I can eat pizza without pain and possibly embarassing gas (having a weight issue is better). Fructose malabsorption can be caused by the same trauma to the digestive tract since it's also the result of not producing an enzyme. Only this one is much worse. It means you can't eat about 75% of the foods in the US because they have high fructose corn syrup as well as most fruits and there is no treatment or effective pills. You can take lactase pills to digest lactose but the enzyme to digest fructose isn't found in a pill. The best you can do is an overall enzyme pill with every snack or meal that might help some. Then there are a few dozen more disorders you could have if you aren't running the right things through your intestines. Your entire lifestyle could change, look up the diet for fructose malabsorption if you want to be convinced, just because you put nothing but junk in your body as a teenager.

I think you've gotten some good input here. Why not start with creating a healthy diet for yourself? The problem just may correct itself then. The important question is if you are healthy? The next concern is maintaining it.
Some people simply aren't meant to weigh as much and generally they live longer. Exersize, toning and shaping, will help you have more of the shape you want too.
