Yep, bananas. And you can also take a calcium/magnesium dietary supplement that'll aid your muscles in properly constricting and contracting themselves. Electrolytes are good, too, so you can drink sports drinks like Gatorade and Powerade.
I get really weak legs sometimes. I have a few health disorders and it very well could be because of that. I get cramps when I lay down, any other time I feel like my legs are letting go and like I'm about to get cramps, sort of pins and needles type of feeling too.
A friend who is a nurse in a hosptial suggested eating raisins and bananas.
My lovely GP just told me to drink Lucozade or Coke.
I thought it could be anemia (I had it when I was a teenager and felt about the same things), but when I've had the type of feeling I've had blood tests done and they've been fine.
I'm having tests done on me, so I am seeing a doctor, othen than my GP. I just want something til it's sorted, something natural - food, no medicine.

I have problems with my calves and feet cramping. I started taking and over the counter Potassium supplement and that seemed to help a great deal.
There is a method to my madness ........ I just haven't found it yet.
I've had really bad leg cramps - Restless Leg Syndrome in fact - that has gotten so bad at times that the pain stops me from sleeping. I do two things to help it: take magnesium, and take fish oil.
With magnesium, I take 200mg at breakfast and 400mg at lunch. This helps a moderate amount, and if my legs/muscles are really sore, I'll run a bath and add some Epsom Salts (which contain magnesium) and soak in it, which is a good help. If you don't have time for a bath, you can dissolve some epsom salts in a moisturiser and rub it on your legs.
My biggest improvement has come with the addition of fish oil in my diet. I take a tablespoon of Cod Liver Oil at lunch, and oh boy, it really helps! Since starting it I no longer get bad pains, and I rarely need to wear pressure bandages to bed. If I forget to take it for a couple of days, my legs start getting painful again. Look for a brand that tests to make sure there's no mercury present.
Good luck! Let me know if any of this helps!
Just drink plenty of water to stay properly hydrated. Electrolytes as suggested by others help too. But of course, that's only if you stay properly hydrated by drinking plenty of water with that to begin with.
Hope that helps too!![]()
I agree with ambpure. You have to keep yourself hydrated. You may be suffering from leg cramps because of loss of water and electrolytes. That is why when you are suffering from leg cramps or any cramps in the body, it is encourage that you take in electrolyte drinks such as gatorade to replace lost water and electrolytes. But that only works if you are suffering leg cramps because of sweating.
But if otherwise, you can have a banana or take calcium supplement to help relieve and prevent it from occurring.
