Others that I know of used aloe vera extracts/capsules and fasted and only had water with it. I have tried that once for health reasons and not for dieting. It is marvelous, but I used the extract (liquid-jelly-ish consistency which is yucky). I might not be able to do a take 2.
As of now, I just eat a lot of fibrous fruit, i.e. pineapple, pomelo to cleanse, and drink sufficient amount of water to flush the toxins. No alcohol/soda/artificial sugar. I also drink korean ginseng tea. But if you can take drinking the real korean ginseng, it is good.

The program starts out with a cleanse, which is basically just limiting your food intake to foods that are very easily digestible. The book also debunks many myths regarding foods, what's healthy what's not. It talks about different diseases and how a healthy digestive system can almost eliminate most of them. If you want to retrain your mind really change your eating habits, and really feel good, seriously consider getting this book.
