First off note that I am trying to lose weight at the moment, not maintain. But, as a rule, I've been limiting myself to "bad" foods and or drinks (in smaller quantities than I used to eat) 1-2x a week. I'm currently 5'8, 187.5 pounds and have lost 22.5 pounds since Jan. I definitely find I can indulge here and there without hurting my progress.

But I do try and limit the "bad food as much as I can. We use to eat bad foods regularly. Mainly because liike me my older three children can eat anything with no effects, unfortunatly my wife and youngest is not so lucky. SO last fall my wife started a low carb diet and has lost 50 lbs. When she first started the kids and I kept eating our usual food and she made herself something else. But I felt bad that we were not eating the same foods and that the bad foods would be to tempting for her to stay with the diet, so we have all but eliminated the bad foods. ( we still eat a bad treat every once and a while.
