I recently inquired a job at a giant restaurant that cooks food for the Air Force cadets, and at first I was losing weight every day because I walk around so much. But after the first week, I started to gain weight. I am having a hard time with staying away from all of the fried foods, cookies, and chips. There is always bad food to munch on!! I am going to be in a wedding in September, and I want to lose 10 pounds for the ceremony. Does anyone have any advice on how to say no to those fattening foods before I gain 20 pounds? HELP!!!

Make sure you've eaten a healthy meal and you're full before showing up for work. Pack a health snack and drink plenty of water.
But 99% of it is going to boil down to will power. If you want to lose weight before the wedding and eating work food is making you gain weight, then you simply can't eat the food.

We're human....if you lay some fried potatoes beside an apple....which one sounds better? I eat healthy, stay away from fried foods, but the potatoes sound much better than the apple. However, as SP says, it comes down to WILL POWER. You don't want to gain weight.....so don't. Simple as that.

I eat an orange and a pack of pb crackers at work every morning. 2 days last week someone brought in glazed donuts (I LOVE them), and 1 day someone brought in coffee cake for a birthday. I wanted those donuts so bad...but I refrained, looked at my orange and said "guess its just gonna be me and you today". haha. I then allowed myself to have a small piece of coffee cake on one of the days while everyone sat out in the commons and celebrated this persons birthday. I can't tell you how proud I was of myself for passing up those donuts, two days in a row. You can get an idea from the fact that I'm still talking about it. Lol!

So...pretend like that fried stuff is a drug that you know you will become addicted to and that will inevitably make you an unhealthy unhappy person......and JUST SAY NO.

Hi there! It is ENTIRELY possible to lose the weight by September!! I'm currently on my own customized nutrition plan (my nutrition club here in LA has taught me a lot about maintaining or developing a strong metabolism and the importance of lean muscle) and I've already lost 2 lbs this week and I'm not spending hours on end at the gym, I'm just making sure that I'm getting the right amount of nutrition that I need every day without the excessive amount of calories and a SUFFICIENT amount of protein. Message me for details if you're interested

PS: You can avoid those cravings by going to work after you have eaten dinner/lunch. If your stomach feels full, you won't crave the food in the kitchen. Nuts (walnuts, almonds) and craisins will give you that "full" feeling, very quickly. So if you get hungry, make a quick trailmix with that (you can also add white chocolate or dark chocolate pieces for something sweet ) and toss it into your purse.

    Hope that helps!

Yes, I do work out. I am a runner. I used to run 6 or 7 miles everyday and I still don't think I lost any weight. Now, I'm just trying to eat healthier because I want to lose that 10 pounds. But it is SO hard! For the past two days, all I have eaten is vegetables. Sure I have been rewarding myself with a gummy worm here and there, but I have actually gained weight! I don't know how to get rid of this flab. (By the way, thank you guys for the wonderful advice! I haven't given in to any of the terrible foods at work). Now my big problem is trying to figure out the reason for the weight gain even though I'm eating super healthy. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this could be happening??

    Snow,

Are you eating any kind of protein?? What kind of veggies are you eating?? If you don't get enough calories, eventually your body thinks it's starving. You still have PLENTY of time to lose 10 lbs by September, but if you crash diet, you're just going to end up gaining back...

I've learned (the hard way) that you have to kind of "play" with the calories you're eating and figure out how to get the combo of veggies, fruits, complex carbs and lean proteins.

    Good luck

I think I'm eating protein. I try not to eat a ton of empty calories, but sometimes it is so hard when a peanut butter cookie is sitting right in front of you. I eat tomatoes, lettuce, snap peas, carrots, cauliflower and broccoli. I don't know how to make my diet in order to lose weight!

You can balance out a salad without adding a ton of calories. Watch your dressing! Only use low calorie dressing and go light. I use bragg's liquid aminos for dressing and add either a hard boiled egg, a little bit of canned tuna or toasted soy nuts for protein.
Are you counting your calories or keeping a food log? (essential to losing weight)

Oh yes, I watch my calorie intake like a hawk. I don't eat as many calories as I should a day for all the excersise I do though, but it doesn't make a bit of difference cause I'm not losing the weight. And okay, I LOVE salads so I will have to try that

Well, if you're not eating enough, then your body will fight you on the weight loss and you'll just keep fat and lose muscle.
What's a typical day of eating and exercise like for you?
