    Unhappy Eating takeaway everyday..

Right, to give a little bit of background, I recently developed a fear of cooking after a few weeks of being ill.. (soo embarassing! ) Since then all me and my oh eat is takeaways. This has been going on since around end of april. I have tried to cook once, I cooked a curry and by the time I had finished cooking and sat down to eat, I felt sick and dizzy and I couldnt eat any more than about 6 forkfuls. We eat a variety, which does NOT make it any better I know. We eat donner kebabs, chicken burgers, beef burgers, fried chicken, fish and chips, pizza, various chinese dishes ect. You get the idea. For breakfast, if we dont have a bacon, sausage and mushroom sandwich, we have jacket potatoes. The only healthy thing I eat is salad, which I have with almost everything. We are by no means overweight, im about 5 foot 4 and weigh just under 8 stone, my oh is about 5 foot 9 and weighs about 13 stone. He workouts twice a week I do not. The last few weeks Ive started to feel really guilty. I really dont want to be making us unhealthy, and causing health problems. Is this really as bad as I think it is? Someone please tell me its not..

Unfortunately, I don't think anyone is going to tell you that eating out all the time is okay. There is so much added fat and sodium in restaurant food. Here in the states, we have a huge selection of frozen food. Some of them, like Kashi and some other organics aren't too bad for you. Maybe you could check into that.

I believe that we can eat out a few times per year but it should never become a habitual practice. Most times we are not aware of all of the ingredients that are included in the various dishes. Also the fried food is not a healthy.

Maybe you can try to start eating at home again by eating lots of fruits, nuts and vegetables along with a simple dish. You don't need to get unhealthy. Try and keep yourselves healthy. Learn about easy ways to have the right foods in your diet.

What lead you to this fear of cooking? Are you doing anything to overcome this?

I don't think eating out all the time, packing your body with high sodium levels, lots of unhealthy fats and carbs, and lack of proper nutrients is going to do anything to improve your health, and will most likely be detrimental to it.

Can your fella not cook anything? It looks like he could help you out right now and learn some dishes. It is not YOUR sole responsibility to keep you both healthy. If he's eating badly, that's his responsibility too.

The only way to overcome this, is to face your fear....over and over and over until you learn that it's really nothing to fear and that you have control over the situation. Continuously eating out will 1. make you lazy....cause it's so conveniant 2. make you unhealthy 3. cost you waaaay more money in a months time than you even realize.

I am trying to get over the fear, however, once Ive cooked I feel ill and can't eat so it will take some time. I have cooked twice since writing that and plan on cooking something I think I can handle once a week. My partner is a pretty bad cook, I dont like his cooking so I used to do it all.

I have started eating fruit, cutting out sausages, and have been eating jacket potatoes and salad for dinner. Im also trying super hard to get over my Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and trying to desensitise that. Which has worked a little. The last couple of days I havent been too bad at work, and Ive felt a little happier. Im not a big fan of nuts or fish. I dont mind honey roasted and salted cashew nuts or dry roasted peanuts and the packeted almonds. I have tried to make my diet as healthy as possible, tomorrow I will be getting another £15 worth of fruit to snack on. I also now dont have a breakfast sandwich everyday. When I do, Ive cut it down to just bacon and muchrooms.

What caused the fear of cooking? Yes, call me nosey rosey, but I'm curious. If you don't want to tell, I'll respect that.

Sounds like you're definitely making some steps in the right direction. Stay away from those pork crisps (or whatever you called them. haha!!!!) Seriously though, sounds like you know what you need to do and are working on making that happen. Keep it up.

The last thing I did before being rushed to A&E was eat a cooked dinner, I was kept in overnight and also have a terrible fear of hospitals. I guess I just mentally associated it.

I have stayed away from the pork crunch, they gave me a nasty migraine. Stupid things, they taste SO good.

HMm....poor cooking....has suffered the death of guilt by association. ha I think you'll work through it, it just may take some time, patience, and pushing yourself.

I'm wondering if the pork crunch is SO high in sodium that it raises your blood pressure, therefore giving you a headache. That's scary. Stay away from fried pig. lol

Try starting simple by making salads, sandwitches, simple things that dont require a lot of cooking ... it will be a lot healthier then eating out and slowly you will get back into cooking... take it slow and baby steps and you will find it will get better each day
