I know there a bunch of you healthy eaters out there like myself. On a typical week the only meat I eat is tuna. I eat lots of veggies and lots of fruits. No white flour. Etc etc.

But EVERY now and then, I crave something bad for me and allow myself to "give in". Today, my sin was Hardees new hand breaded chicken strips and crispy curls. Tasted good (not breathtakingly fantastic or anything), but immediately after finishing it I felt gross. Tummy doesn't hurt or anything like that....I just feel ....ICK....and I want what I just ate to be gone from my body ASAP. :\ My body is saying "Hey...I'm pretty disappointed in what you just did".

So now I'm asking myself....why do we consider a "treat" to be something that is undeniably BAD for us and makes us feel "ICK" after we eat? Shouldnt a treat be something that tastes awesome and makes us feel good?

Also, this should be an encouragement to those of you that do eat a bit more unhealthy than you should...you think you'll really miss that stuff if you don't have it.....but truth is, once its gone out of your body and your lifestyle, your body will actually not even want the bad stuff anymore. It's your mind you have to battle with.

We treat it that way because grease tastes fantastic. If it did not we would eat it to indulge ourselves. Which would an average person desire more? A big mac or some carrot sticks...that is the mentality that society is faced with and the health food will never win. Personally my 'fast food' consists of Quiznos or Subway....and even that is not terrible fast food. But yes once you stop eating some type of food your body will adjust to not craving it as much and the battle to avoid is no longer a real battle. The problem is that it can take a long long time to be used to no junk food.

I agree with ItsASecret. It just tastes so good! Its only when you look at the nutritional information on the back that you realise how bad it really is. I ate a bag of pork crunch yesterday and then noticed that it contained 5.48g of my salt!! How the hll do they get permission to sell that!!!!

    pork crunch
PORK crunch?!!? That just sounds awful. LOL!!!!!!

Thing for me is the grease doesn't even taste all that good to me. Its just that I tell myself it's a "treat", but I end up not feeling satisfied from it and then feel all icky like I do now. haha. YUCK!!! Honestly it's like once you really become AWARE of what you're really eating, it just changes everything. Nutrition labels should be included on ANYTHING you order or at least made available to see. Pretty sure if people really had to look at it, they'd often make other decisions. I know that I probably just had a 700-800 calorie meal with VERY little nutrition...and I'm disappointed in myself over it. :\ Ah well, live and learn. haha. I'm sure my next "treat" won't be for a long long time.

    Ick...phooeey....

I enjoy a variety of foods. Meats as well as fruit and veggies..
What really concerns me is what we, (humans) allow to be sprayed and injected into that which we
find nourishing and filling. The chemicals sprayed on plants, some seeds actually contain things that have been
placed by us, that will aid in growth and a pesticide. Then our dairy products that contain anti-biotics, and growth
hormones, much like the beef , pork, and chicken..etc.. we eat. These kinds of things are a growing concern of mine...
Let alone the run off into our water systems, that then go into our homes and ultimately into US..!! What will all of this cause to the generations to come. As we know.. Cause and Effect.. we are a part of the living things on the earth and we depend on it, yet look at how we treat it..? I could go on and on, (oil spills......) but i am pushing off of the initial subject..

I think about this all the time too. Now that I have my own home, I'm making a valiant effort to plant veggies in the summer, pesticide free. Starting a compost pile, etc. I can't control what the world eats, but I can to some extent control what I eat.

I'm very untrusting of meats. And I heard yesterday where they have now released the beef from a cloned cow to be sold. I'm sure there is some excellent scientific explanation as to why there's nothing wrong with that...... but I have quite a problem with it and too wonder what the reprecussions down the road will be. How far are we willing to go to make a buck? For a country that spends as much as the US does on medicines of large variety to make us "better", looks like we'd give a little more thought to what we put in our bodies. And you're right, giving that this is our only Earth....looks like we'd give a bit more thought to how we treat it.

'giving that this is our only Earth....looks like we'd give a bit more thought to how we treat it'

Thats the thing though. Too many people on this earth are selfish and dont care about the outcome of their actions because they wont be around to see what happens.
