I can't eat at restaurants and get anything good at all. Too much salt in almost everything, to say nothing of the fats and cholesterol ..
Usually I cook a bunch of chicken breasts and salmon on Sunday and use that as the core for lunches during the week. I keep a half-gallon of soy milk, fruit and some yogurt at work for snacks. Yeah, can be a bit boring, but I sure feel better than when I eat junk.

It's definitely easy to make a big pot of soup or cook a pound of Chicken Breasts or something to make throughout the week. You make sandwiches, eat the chicken with some brown rice, add some different veggies, etc. I like the frozen steam in bag veggies for easy prep if you are short on time. Also you can make a variety of sandwiches, have some veggies and hummus, or a big salad. You can buy salad ingredients and mix and match for various meals or before dinner salads.

I think the key is really just thinking ahead before you go to the store. Kind of figure out a "game Plan" to make sure you get everything you need and have options so you don't get too bored with the menu.

When I'm making dinner at night, I make extra to pack for my lunch the next day. Like today, for example, I made shrimp stir-fry for dinner last night, and made an extra 1/2 cup of brown rice, and extra cup of veggies and a handful of shrimp to cook, then I packed the extra up separately for my lunch that I will eat today. It saves me from having to cook for multiple meals.

I also make sure that when I go shopping (usually on the weekend) that I buy enough fruits and vegetables for the week, and that I get a variety so I'm not bored. Then after I get the groceries home, I cut up my fruits and veggies that I bought and put them in ziplock bags, enough for 2 fruit servings and 2 veggies servies per day for the week. Yeah, the preparation takes some time and planning, but it really helps during the week to just be able to grap a baggie or two from the fridge and get out the door instead of hitting the vending machine at work.

This is apple season and the end of the other fruit season - enjoy while they are fresh, then get dried fruits.

Oh, oh. You can make your own smoothies (just blend up some water, banana, and random frozen berries or fruits) freeze them in paper cups and drop one into an insulted coffee cup with a good lid, by lunch time it will be still frozen but soft enough to enjoy.
