I would like to share my supplement that recently save my life. From the moment I feel severe pain on my chest. I consulted a doctor and he said I should be very careful and he advice me not to eat fatty foods and avoid drinking as well as smoking. Then my friend advice me to take this (edit link replaced with simply Omega 3) and told me that this one is made from fish oil. So I was shocked since I can't take food that is fatty. But I gave it a try and good for me it works and I feel much healthier now. How about you? Feel free to comment and suggest here.

    If this post isn't "spamming"...

What does fish oil have to do with pains in the chest, over weight, drinking too much, cholesterol, fatty foods?

Fish oil will not save your life, not eating fatty foods, going on a diet, stop drinking, smoking, will...

Fish oil, is fantastic for arthritis, and now the member's can advise what else fish oil assists.....

    Wink Hmmm, this sounds fishy

Fish oil is one of the most vital supplements every woman should be taking, especially with heart disease being so prevalent amongst women (esp, in the U.S.). It is the #1 killer of U.S. women. Fish oil should be used as a preventative measure and a therapeutic measure. But obviously PREVENTION is the preferred choice. I take fish oil, calcium citrate, vitamin d3 and a one day multivitamin.

In addition, I try to eat a lot of vegetables and some fruit. Good nutrition is impotent to diabetics.

Well the previous poster was too much work to edit - outbound link in the post and the signature line.

Personally I am a BIG fan of Omega 3s. I'm concerned about heavy metals in fish and depletion fishing practices so I take flax seed oil and use a fair amount of home ground flax seed. Omega3 fatty acids are part of the building material for the coating on our nerves and there is evidence that they can forestall or prevent the onset of schizophria and other disorders. They also are vital to virtually all aspects of our health. Its important to get our vitamins and vital nutrients in balanced, healthy diet.

Omega 3s found in fatty fish or fish oil have many benefits...some of which have yet to be discovered.

For those of you concerned about mercury in wid caught fish...a growing concern in some areas...you can consume farm raised or take fish oil supplements that are also generally from farm raised fish.

If you have trouble consuming fish oil supplements or get "fish oil burps" you can freeze the capsules and consume them frozen and this will help with both concerns.

omega 3 fatty acids can help maintain healthy cholesterol levels, help with proper brain function/health and maintain cardiovascular health. of course, at the right dosages. I won't link but you can find a fish oil monograph compiled by health canada, that is based on scientific references, clinical trials, etc.

As for the heavy metals in fish - reputable fish oil supplement manufacturers would test their products and source their ingredients from suppliers that test for heavy metals. it's very standard issue. The not-so reputable may use a lower EPA/DHA content to save costs and label their products otherwise.

just cuz fish oil can do good things doesn't mean that every fish oil supplement can do it either.

Seeker - that's an interesting technique to solve "fishy burp" - i never heard of it but will try it. People can also purchase enteric coated/orange scented fish oils to mask fishy burp. also best to have it with a meal and fishy burp will be greatly reduced.

I take Omega 3 fish oil regularly, primarily for maintain my cholesterol levels, as I don't really eat fish and I also don't want to miss out on the extensive benefits of Omega 3. But no two fish oil supplements are equal I have found. It all depends on where you get them and what levels of DHA they contain.

The one I have been using now successfully contains high levels of DHA, and is one of the purest and freshest fish oils I have ever used.
