    Default Nutritious AND Filling??

I'm currently doing a bit of a health challenge with myself, tracking not only calories but protein, fiber, and other nutritional information of what I eat daily. I'm looking for good snacks that are low cal BUT filling. Any ideas?

My favorite, a piece of string cheese with turkey wrapped around it, low cal and high in protein.

Veggie sticks and instead of ranch dip, mix the powdered ranch mix with low fat or fat free cottage cheese. Cucumbers have a tendency to keep me fuller than others.

    Hard boiled eggs.

Jerky, I prefer the turkey jerky.

I keep an "emergency" high protein bar in my purse.

Make your own trail mix with dried fruits and nuts.

Greek Yogurt, high in protein, no fat. I'm a fan of the Chobani brand, they have some good flavors.

Those are my fail safes for snacking.

Hmm Greek Yogurt looks like a really good option. And hard boiled eggs. I popped a bag of popcorn yesterday and seperated it up into bags of 2 cups each. 2 cups is 60 calories so it's a nice little snack.

I also love the idea of powdered rance in fat free cottage cheese!! Thanks Lana!

I like sliced up veggies (cauliflower, cucumbers, celery, peppers, etc) with homemade hummus to snack on. Or if I'm too lazy to make hummus I buy the Sabra brand (or Sabre?) individual hummus packs, but I only eat 1/2 the pack per cup of veggies.

I also like a wasa fibre cracker with organic almond butter or a 1/2 wedge of light laughing cow spreadable cheese. I might also wash this down with a cup or 1/2 cup of choc soy or almond milk (especially if it is the day that I weight train). The protein and fiber fill me right up!

My mom likes these new things called Dr. Crackers or something like that. Have you tried those?

lol yeah, I usually only need 1/2 wedge because they are pretty big and pack a LOT of flavor, sometimes a whole garlic and herb wedge can be a bit too much of a mouthful!... although one whole wedge is only 35ish calories, so it isn't like eating the whole thing will kill your caloric intake!

Never tried or heard of the Dr. Crackers - I'll have to look into it! I like the wasa ones because they're big like a whole graham cracker and have 2g of fiber per cracker... not too shabby.

Aw, man - now I'm getting hungry!!!!

MMMMMMMMMmmmmmmm!!!! I got the lowfat cottage cheese (80 cal per 1/2 cup) and the spicy ranch dry mix (5 cal per 1/2 teaspoon). I measured out one serving and mixed, then blended with my hand blender to make more of a "ranch" consistency, and WOW it's fantastic. I got the cauliflower (forgot cucumbers) which is approx 13 calories per half cup. So this could be a nice little snack for around 100 or so calories.

Oh and I'm still LOVING the PB2. Going to be ordering more soon. I add 2 tblsps in my protein drink every morning which consists of : skim milk, half pack of truvia, cocoa powder, pb2, 1 scoop of protein powder. It really makes for an enjoyable drink. Don't even have to blend it with ice.

I always bring a piece of carrot in my purse anywhere. Your ideas ladies, I will surely incorporate in my snacking list.

I never thought to mix LF cottage cheese and ranch mix for a tasty treat - what an awesome idea! I LOVE ranch dressing, but try as hard as I can to stay away from it because it is soooo bad for me. Definitely trying this one out too!

Thought of a sweet treat that I like to make once in a while - apple chips! Thinkly slice a small apple, sprinkle with cinnimon (and perhaps a smidge of sugar -but not much!) bake in a 250F oven until crispy... oh, so yummy, and it makes the house smell AWESOME haha (added bonus!)

KM - I blended mine to make it more of a dressing texture and it works better that way for dipping. It's YUMMY!!! I used Spicy Ranch because they didn't have regular ranch. And I didn't buy Fat Free, just the regular, which was only 5 cal per half teaspoon. So if you measure out 1/2 cup of lowfat cottage cheese and add 1/2 teaspoon (or so) of ranch powder, then blend it, you probably get 4 tablespoons of dip (I didn't measure but that's an estimate). So 85 calories in 4 teaspoons, versus 280 calories in 4 tablespoons of Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing. What a great little snack. Thanks Lana!
