i was vegetarian once.. but couldn't manage to stay on it for long.. trying to get back....
well first off, i would like to applaud you for making the choice to become vegetarian. i have been vegan (although i am not strictly vegan . . . cheese is my weakness) for about 4 years now & it was the best decision i've ever made for myself. you will quickly see it is not just a diet but a lifestyle.
amy's is great. they also have breakfast burritos, pizza & desserts. however my all time favorite is the tomato soup . . . it goes great with some dairy - free cheese (i like the veggie slices brand) on 9 - grain bread.
stir - fry's are great as well . . . you can mix & match any combination of veggies to your liking with a side of whole wheat noodles. mushrooms are a good alternative to meat as they provide an excellent source of protein (or you could always crush up some unsalted almonds if you're not into fungi).
boca brand burgers taste amazing & are vegan. if you don't mind dairy products, morningstar farms has a pretty wide variety of "meat substitutes" as well. tofurkey brand has lunch "meats" & vegan hot dogs . . . you really just have to try it for yourself & see what you like.
my best advice would be to visit the peta website & check out their vegan shopping list. it gives name - specific brands & you would be suprised how much "normal" food out there is cruelty - free! i take mine with me every time i go to the farmer's market as a reference, & a lot of brands are now available in good old fashioned grocery store.
