    Hi everyone,

I was hoping for some help please?

I would like to get a good collection of vitamins and supplements together for better health, however i'm not sure what things are safe to take together etc

I am currently taking spatone iron supplement as I have been anaemic a few times in the past and was put on a three month course of ferrous sulphate by the doctor. I thought prevention was better than cure so decided to take a daily supplement.
I also take Omega 3 fish oil mainly for brain benefit as I am studying but it also apparently helps the heart too which is good.
I would like to get some cranberry extract to help with my frequent urine infections.
Also Acai berry extract or maybe the juice to help with weight loss.

I would like to know if its okay to take these together? so that's:

    Iron
    Omega 3 fish oil
    Cranberry extract
    Acai berry extarct or juice

If anyone has any advice for anything that would compliment what I am already taking or any other suggestions for weight loss?

Or if it would be safe to take a multi vitamin aswell?

    Any information would be helpful

I am pretty sure you can take all those together. However some fish oils can tend to leave the belly feeling a little strange. So make sure you take that one with food. I got tired of taking loads of pills every day and found a good supplemental shake. I really like it and it has balanced me out enough for my body to start dropping pounds! I do still take my fish oils though. Also don't forget Calcium. Especially if you are a Mommy, you will need that.
Are you exercising too? If so what are you doing?

One man's opinion (based on scientific research)...

    The 5 Most Important Supplements:

    1. A high-quality multi-vitamin

    2. A quality omega-3 supplement

    Phytoplankton is the plant-based omega-3

Phytoplankton is grown on "farms" specifically for omega 3 supplements and does very little harm to the environment. I say "very little" because it could be argued that all farming, at any level for any reason, does "harm" to the environment.

Fish oil based Omega 3's are in part, to blame for the tremendous over fishing of our oceans and many of the fish that are caught and processed contain high levels of mercury.

Krill oil is another source of Omega 3's and the harvesting of Krill is having a tremendous impact on the sea life that consume it in order to survive...whales come to mind.

The American Heart Association recommends a minimum daily dose of 500-1,000 mg of DHA and EPA from fish oil to reduce heart disease — but I think this is a paltry dose. I prefer to take 6,000 to 9,000 iu daily in three equal doses — and find this really helps arthritis.

    3. Co-enzyme Q-10

CoQ-10 (also known as ubiquinol) is a nutrient produced by the “energy factories” in your cells called mitochondria. Taking a CoQ-10 supplement boosts the way your cells produce and use energy. It also helps your body burn fat … improves cholesterol ratios … boosts your physical energy levels … and improves thyroid and pancreas functions.

When shopping, labels may read “CoQ-10” or “Coenzyme Q-10”, but the more active form will be labeled “QH” or “ubiquinol.” This is a stronger form of CoQ-10, though purchasing that version isn’t essential, especially if price is an issue. Take 100 mg two or three times per day, because your body can’t metabolize higher doses.

    4. Magnesium citrate

You’ve been hearing about calcium and bone health forever — but did you know that magnesium and calcium are like conjoined twins? Calcium can’t even be absorbed unless magnesium is present. Without it, calcium is much less effective in maintaining your bones and regulating your nerve and muscle tone.

Magnesium may be the most important mineral you can take because it’s a key player in 300 essential bodily functions, and is used by all of your organs. It activates enzymes … powers your energy … and helps your body absorb vitamin D, potassium, and zinc.

Start with a low dose, because it can loosen your stools.

Another alternative is a topically-applied magnesium chloride liquid spray that’s absorbed through the skin and won’t affect your bowels.

    5. Sunshine vitamin D

Whenever you can, spend 10-20 minutes sunbathing — without sunscreen. If your access to sunlight is limited by season or geographic location, take 2,000-5,000 iu of a good quality vitamin D supplement daily. Just make sure you purchase vitamin D3 (not D2) because the D3 form is 87% more potent than vitamin D2.

I am not a physician at any level, nor am I a clinician, researcher or scientist. I'm just a guy, who like you, is interested in being and staying healthy for as long as this life allows and I, like so many others in this amazing forum, have done quite a bit of reading/research over my adult life on ways to improve my adult life.

I wish you and everyone else my best as you do all you can to improve your life.

Your body is a temple...treat it accordingly.
