I want to have a breast reduction surgery, but I don't all at the same time. I'm about 5'4 and weight about 220 lbs and wear a 40H (which is actually not big enough in the cup now). I am under the understanding that insurance WILL cover this procedure but am scared about having it done. I don't know anyone who has had it done. My line of work demands that I do alot of heavy lifting and be on my feet all day long and this hard concrete. My back hurts so bad every single night that I can barely walk. My boyfriend wants me to be more comfortable, but like most men, does not want to see them get reduced, LOL! I've tried losing weight to make them shrink, but I can't seem to get the weight off!
If I do this procedure, what am I looking at for recovery and everything? |

5'4" and 220 lbs give you a BMI of 37.8. That is obese! You are in great danger of doing severe damage to your health.
to lose weight and keep it off, you must change you lifestyle. |

I do realize this, but I can't get the weight off. I'm trying to get an appointment with a doctor right now to talk to him about it.

my mom had breast reduction about 3 years ago because she was having back problems, she actually had this done after she had gastric bypass...anyway...she was in the hospital for 3 days and bedrest at home for the rest of the week.
but the next week she was up and around back at work...but she still had the draining tubes in and had to wear a special bra to keep from ripping stitches. i guess it just depends on your health and lifestyle as far as recovery time goes. |

Hi Ash,
I am 48 years old, 5'1", 170 lbs (used to be 210#)I had a breast reduction approx. 7 years ago after slamming my 38G right breast in my desk drawer while answering the phone . One of the best things I have ever done for my health in my life. I have had alot of surgeries (all for health reasons) but none of them affected me as much as this one. Talk about confidence boost. One of the least painful surgeries ever!!!!!! I was able to lift things easier, fit clothes that I never thought of wearing. Not to mention the now perky breasts, wearing a classy sundress without a bra...OMG ![]() something I never ever had before....Back & shoulders don't hurt anymore....My insurance paid in full for health reasons...Again, one the best decisons of my life!!!! Go for it!!creolelulu |
