sorry i have to disagree with crazy. rhinoplasty is surgery. the link crazy has included is a website explaining a non evaisive alternative to rhinoplasty. everyone in my family except me and a few others has had their nose done. it is surgery you are completly knocked out and the doctor usually breaks or files the bone and cartilage down to reshape your nose. when you wake your nose is packed and you may have lots of bruising.

rhinoplasty is an actual surgery. i had one performed almost 2 years ago. It is when you are under anestesia and the surgeon goes in and works on your nose. it is quite painful after surgery but the pain killers will help. your nose will also be very bruised along with your face because of all the scraping of the nasal bone and cutting of cartilege. well hope i helped

I'm thinking of having a nose job. And over here... it takes up to 2 hours and you have to wear a splint on your nose for two weeks, you have to be careful not to bang it or bend down. I'm scared of having to to be honest but I know that at the end of those splints/bruising/swelling I could end up with a gorgeous straight nose!

I had reconstructive open cut rhinoplasty in the 80s. This is very different from the closed procedure. My surgeon actually had to cut my nose around the ege and (well I won't get too graphic) re-build a collapsing nasal passage, he also used a bone graft at the tip of my nose to bring it up and he removed a lump. The initial surgery took 3 and a half hours due to the nature and severity of the problem with my nasal passage. Even m surgeon was surprised that it took that long.

Two weeks later I had to have a second surgery because the bone graft had slipped and was rubbing against a nerve making my upper lip numb. My doctor had warned me durning our consultation that there was a possibility of the bone graft slipping so I knew ahead of time that I might need a 2nd surgery. Also when I had my surgery my surgeon had two anesthesiologists in the OR and a cardiac crash unit on standby as I tend to have fairly low blood pressre and puting me under can be risky. I am not trying to scare anyone but these are all things hat you have to consider. Rhinoplasty is MAJOR surgery. Any surgery that has to be done undr general ansthetic (putting you under) is considered major surgery.

If you are considering any plastic surgery be very picky about your doctor. They should be a Board Certified Plastic surgeon. A good, ethical plastic surgeon will, like mine did, tell you all about the procedure and any and all possible complications as well as all possible results whether they be good or bad. If you consult with a surgeon that won't or can't answer all of your questions, find another surgeon.

I would love to have a nose job done as well, mainly to fix an old break (i have a hump on my nose!) and also the way it looks in profile, the way it comes down from my forehead is wack. Like a ski slope one lovely friend mentioned to me!! How much (for Aust.) does the procedure actually cost? Hospital stay and all of that... It would be nice to be able to look good in photos for once

With a nose job, it depends a lot on whether or not they break the bone or not. I have had two the second one mostly to fix the not so great work of the pastic surgeon who did the first. The first surgery was painful, I woke up feeling like I was hit with a baseball bat it took probably three weeks to heal. The second time around all the doc did was file down some of my cartilage.. although still surgery, was only painful for about a day. I still had to where a splint on my nose so I didn't really want to leave the house but I felt fine. After a week, I was splint free and back to normal. Id say from the experience do your research. There are many different things they can do to fix your nose and way they can do it. Make sure you trust your doc and know what is going on. The second time around my doctor involved me in the decision making a lot more, and it was a greater success.
