Default producing colostrum

Hi ladies! I just had my ultrasound 2 weeks ago, and determined my accurate due date as feb 25 which makes me 22 weeks pregnant. Everything is going really well with the pregnancy even though it seems I have gotten every symptom possible in the process! (its all worth it) Anyways, 2 nights ago I looked down at my pajamas and I noticed that my breasts had leaked some colostrum for the first time. I thought it was much too early to start lactating. I was just wondering if anyone can let me know if they have/know someone who has experienced it so early? I havent lactated since, but is it too early? Anything to be concerned about? I was reading What to Expect and it said that i shouldnt expect to lactate until 28 weeks up until after birth.

I've never lactated before giving birth, i dont know anyone too. You should call your doctor and ask, just to make sure.

Wink I think it just depends...

I remember being worried with my first child for the same reason, and if I recall he told me it differs from woman to woman because of hormone levels... I started leaking at about 23 weeks for my daughter, and now 27 weeks into my 2nd pregnancy, and I've been leaking small amounts for almost 2 months. Good Luck!!

Thanks for the replies! I really appreciate it. It definitely makes me feel better knowing that you leaked early in your pregnancy too Impatient. I go for my check up on the 3rd so I will be sure to let my doctor know just to be certain.

hi, i am 21 weeks pregnant and noticed a burning sensation in my nipples around my 20th week which got me a little worried. few days later i discovered i was spotting some yellowish fluid on my pj's. now i recognize that slightly burning sensation right before i start leaking small amounts of colostrum. it now now became pretty regular, mostly after food and later in the evening and i am thinking about buying pads for my bras. from what i read it sounds like 20 - 21 weeks is an early start for the first pregnancy but still considered normal... the funny thing happened when i went to swim in the ocean while on vacation. my nipples really burned and didn't like salt water one bit! strange things happen during pregnancy i guess?????
