We have been trying to get pregnant for just over 3 yrs, struggling to concieve. Tried ovulation tests, blood tests, we have a 11 1/2 yr old son would love to have another before i'm 40. I'm 38 at the moment, it's not helping because my periods have become heavy and very painful to the point i dont how much more i can take, ready to give up..

You are probably going to need the help of a medical professional. You are unfortunately hitting that point in life where conception is difficult and increasingly risky. I fully support your desire to expand your family but I highly recommend fertility counseling, since it sounds like you could benefit from it.

    Hi madness30,

I am 39 turning 40 in December and my husband and i have been trying since we got married last June. About 5 months ago by recomendation of my gyno we started to see a firtility doctor. I have now been doing treatment (hormone shots and IUI) for the past two months no baby yet but we are very hopeful. My issue is i don't produce enough eggs anymore due to my age which could be your issue also and it makes it more difficult to concieve. If you need/want to know any more info i'd be more than happy to help.

    Take care and God bless.

    P.S. Don't give up.

    Talking concieving

Hi,thanks for your replies the problem we've got we would have to pay for fertility treatment because we already have a child. I went to my gp had a fertility blood test to check to see if i was ovulating and my results came back that i was just above borderline ovulating. We will carry on at the moment. I would love a girl but then a boy would be loved just the same..xxx:d

You can purchase the Clear Blue Ovulation sticks at a drug store and moniter yourself, that might come in handy in determining when you are ovulating. You can also purchase Fertility Vitamins to help boost your system.

    I wish you the best!
