Default how soon after intercourse can I find out if i'm pregnant?

Myself and my husband have decided to start trying for a baby. We had sex on Monday but i'm worried that I left it too late after ovulation. It is now Friday and my period is due this Monday but I am still getting some white discharge on my knickers. Does this mean that I could have a risk of being pregnant as I know that when this happens it means that an egg is being realesed or is it too close to my mentrual cylcle to be pregnant? I'm so impatient and don't want to take a test so soon because I'm worried that it will come up negative. I've done so many before and it's heartbreaking when that happens. I know i'm going to find out sooner or later but i think I just want to keep my hopes up.
Anyone got any thoughts on this?

Default getting pregnant

Most places say before or after missed period but I would try to take a test ten to fourteen days after the first time trying to conceive. When I got pregnant I did it every single night so I had a better chance of getting pregnant. Don't freak if it takes a couple of months it took me about two months to get pregnant and that is trying every night. The discharge as you said is a sign that you are ovulating so try it every night for a week or two after! There are ovulation and fertility tests if the process gets too stressfull for you.

Thanks for that advise. Well I was due my period last Monday and when it didn't come by Wednesday I decided to take a test. It turned up negative. It is now Friday and I still have no signs of my period coming. I usually start to break out in spots a few days before so that's how I usually know it is coming, but i've had nothing like this. Was I just working myself up, thinking that I was pregnant that it prolonged it, or is there a chance that the test was done too soon after trying to concieve (9 days after) that it showed the wrong result? I really don't want to have to do another test as it's just so hard. I know I'm coming across really impatient but we've never been in this situation before so I don't know what to expect.

It's entirely possible the test was done too early to really detect whether or not you're pregnant. My understanding also is that it's best to take the test in the morning when you first wake up as the hormone concentration is higher.
As hard as it may seem I think you need to have a little patience here. Wait another few days/week and see if your period starts then take it again if it doesn't. You could also try going to a Dr. and have them do the test as they are usually more accurate than the home ones (despite the marketing hype).

Good luck!

Thanks so much for the responses. I really appreciate them. It's good just to be able to see what other people think. Means i'm not going out of my mind.
I'll leave a few days and if it hasn't started by next week i'll do another test. Fingers crossed eh!!!

Hello,

Good luck on your concieving adventure! I'd wait until you miss your period to be sure, but also stressing over pregnancy (whether its wanted or not) can delay your period, so sit back, relax and breathe...it will come.

I also advise against having sex everyday to concieve. While it can work it's just that his sperm count will be lower and lessen your possibility. So wait about 2-3 days in between and let him "reload" so his semen is more concentrated with sperms
