Default Could I be pregnant?

About a week before my periods start I always have bloating, mood swings, fatigue and breast swelling and tenderness, these symptoms always go away when my period starts. My cycle works five days late. For instance I started my period on the 24th of Aug. So according to the way my body works, Sept.'s period would be on the 29th. I did start on the 29th,and I had my usual symptoms the week before. This period was different however. I usually bleed heavy the first 2 days, then slowly slack off. In Sept. however, my first day was not that heavy and the color was darker, and kind of brown looking. For the next 4 days, I did not bleed, I just very, very lightly spotted and the spotting was a brown color, not red. The only pms symptoms that went away was the breast tenderness and swelling. I stayed bloated, tired, and a little moody. Now about a week and a half later my breast have begun to be tender and swollen again, and I'm still bloated and everything.I have never had this happen before. I did take a pregnancy test, over a week ago and it was negative, but it might just be to soon to tell. Does anyone think that I could be pregnant, or is this just my imagination?

It 's hard to respond to something like this, we just don't know. Have you had unprotected sex? What makes you think there is a possiblity of pregnancy rather than just a slightly screwy period?

I agree with WC, it may just be a screwy period. The stress of you wondering if you are pregnant, causing it to be that way maybe.

As WC asked, did you have unprotected sex, specifically around the time you were ovulating?

I'm not so much stressed about being pregnant because it doesn't really matter either way. While I would love to have children, we weren't trying to have them, even if I am pregnant I'm solid enough in my life and in my relationship that things would be ok. I just really don't have any other women to talk to about these things and I wanted other peoples opinion. I have done some research online and the things that have me wondering about whether or not I'm pregnant are the fact that my flow was very light, which what I have read, could be a wonky period or implantation bleeding, also the fact that my bloating and mood swings have continued for over 3 weeks now, and my breasts started to swell and became tender again a week after I stopped spotting. I'm not looking for specific answers I'm am going to the doctor next week. I just wanted other womens prospective on my situation. Also I don't really know if this helps, but around the time my breasts started to swell again I got a really bad case of indigestion, which is something I hardly ever get. I know it's not a pregnancy symptom, but I just found it odd that it started at the same time, and it has not stopped in over a week. I do not know exactly when I ovulate, and I do not use birth control. However (and excuse my phrasing) my fiance does " pull out" when we have sex. Like I said, we are not trying to have a baby, but if I did get pregnant it wouldn't be a terrible thing. Thanks for the input so far. Hope this clarifies things a little more.

Hello and welcome!

I'ts hard to say when just explaining symptoms, no one can really tell (even the woman questioning can't tell) the only real way to tell is a missed period and a positive pregnancy test (blood or urine). If the pregnancy test you took was negative a week ago, it still could be negative this week.

Best to wait til you miss this next period. But when I found out I was pregnant, I was haveing NO period (I was a week late, but my periods were irregular anyways so I did not expect it), very tender breasts (could hardly handle having a shower!) wild mood swings, and so so so sleepy. But what was weird was I had all these symptoms for PMS too, so the only way I knew was that positive pregnancy test...I had tested a week before that and it was negative (we were TTC).

So maybe for peace of mind, take another pregnancy test..and regardless of the results, see your doc.

good luck with whichever result you're looking for.

BTW pulling out is a terrible birth control method as pre-cum can make you pregnant. I would take it a step up and use condoms if you're not really trying to get pregnant.

Oh I know(lol), I read somewhere that it has like a 27% failure rate! Birth control and I do not get along. I'm allergic to condoms, I've tried almost every brand and type. BC pills are worse ( I've been on 3 different brands) they give me migraines, my hormones go crazy and they cause me to spot in between my periods. I've heard horror stories from several of my friends who where on the shot. We used contraceptive film for a while, but those things can't get kind of expensive if you keep buying them. Like I said although we are not actively seeking to have a child, if we did get pregnant, we do have both the financial means, and support system to take care of a child, and we both want a family. We just haven't make the decision to actively pursue it.
Thank you so much for you're input I really appreciate it!!!
I think it's the waiting that's driving me crazy!! I should know something in a couple of weeks though!

You might consider a diaphram until you are ready to actually plan for a child. Not making a choice is a choice. Pulling out is both a very poor means of conception control and makes for a lower quality sexual experience.

I'd venture a guess that you are either latex sensitive or sensitive to the spermicide/lube on the condoms. You can get unlubed, non latex.
