So when my OB/gyn told me this she explained that it occurs in a certain percentage of women and it not sexually transmitted or anything. I got a little worried because she said she'll be putting me on IV anti biotics when I start labour.
So being the nerd I am I googled it and read up on it. I read that my baby is at risk for developing infection after birth and POSSIBLY (very rarely) can die from it...or if it develops anytime 2 weeks after birth it could come in the form of meningitis.
So does this mean that my baby is going to be unhealthy for the rest of her life? I mean, I'm going to be pumped with Anti biotics before she is even born and that alone worries me...I hate anti biotics to begin with, they save lives but when used wrong they can actually PREVENT us from getting better because some "bugs" can become immune.
Also does this mean |I should stop having babies? (I hope not because I want at least 2 more) But if I have to do this EVERY time I have baby I don't know if I want to put my body AND the newborns body through this!
Anyone know about this? Experienced it?
"I might be a little young, but honey I ain't naive"
"If it ain't an APBT, it's just a dog"
I googled as well and all I could ascertain is that timing is everything with the antibiotics, before your labour by a few hours and that you need to get tested each time your pregnant.
Nothing really that I read said that the baby was in trouble for life, thereafter.
It's good that your Doctors tested, checked and know what they are doing.
You can have as many babies as you want, you just may have to do this everytime as you have the positive gene which they state is 24 - 40% of woman so your not alone.
See, if there is a support group for Group B Strep to ease your mind.
