40 weeks yesterday!
Okay so I know due dates are just an estimate. But I am starting to suffer! lol I can barely walk and these pains are horrendous (in my hips and groin area) I have an appointment with my OB/GYN today to see how things are progressing. I will not be induced, I want to go about things naturally.
BUUUT, I heard you can do things to jumpstart labour. I tried nipple stimulation, with no success. I tried walking far distances, but that just tired me right out beyond exhaustion (not good), and I want to try sex, but hubby isn't cooperating!! He says his daddy book (the expectant father) says NOT to have sex during late pregnancy. I have yet to confirm this, but I think he really is just nervous about the whole labour thing. Maybe he thinks after we have sex the baby will just pop out right there! lol
I am not going to be trying any herbal remedies or castor oil, I don't want to be ingesting anything, no matter how "safe" people say it is.
Wish me luck that this lil bugger checks out soon...hotel mamma is quite tired lol

when i was pregnant i couldnt stop playing with my nipples near the end...wasnt sure if this was normal til i asked a few friends who embarrassing went red and admitted they did aswell...so as i had 4 a while this technique didnt work 4 me but dancing 2 loud music and a tikka massala worked!

Sex is absolutely fine unless you are a high risk pregnancy, which it doesn't sound like you are.
You won't be able to have sex for a few weeks anyways (after delivery), so convince him you need to go out with a bang!

Sex to Induce Labor
Semen contains prostaglandins. Prostaglandins cause the cervix to "ripen", or soften and prepare to open. While it is debatable whether there are enough prostaglandins in semen to have any real effect, it is not a terrible way to keep hope alive and while away the last weeks of your pregnancy. Another great side effect is the fact that orgasms produce oxytocin, the hormone that causes contractions. So, between the two, there is a pretty good case for the cure for pregnancy.

I give you props. I saw a pregnant lady yesterday at the laundromat and it looked like she was going to burst! I was kinda scared actually.But congrats!
Go out and get an excercise ball put a towel on it and do circular motions while sitting on the ball (this is also good to do while in labor). Look into getting a pregnancy massage which will relax you. Sex is good as long as you and him climax which will help open/ ripen the cervix. How do I know these things 1. my mother is a certified Dula 2. I had to be enduced with both of my girls the ball REALLY helped during labor since I'm against drugs
Castor Oil DOES NOT work that is a old wives tale....how do I know...TRIED IT! near drank the whole bottle! YUK

Went to the Gyn today and haven't dialated yet. Still softening. They figure they'll induce me next tuesday/ wednesday if she hasn't made an apperence yet. I don't want to get induced and i'll probably cry if I have to.
So fingers crossed that she comes soon!

Never do castor oil, and sex is ok if you're healthy. I used a midwife with my last pregnancy and she did give me herbs to take and they did work, I was having contractions within 4 hours, but I don't want to post up what they were. She also told me eating raw pineapple will help to thin the cervix. I was dumb at the time and drank a bunch of canned pineapple juice, but it has to be raw. Who knows if it works but raw pineapple never hurt anyone. And you really, really don't want to get induced. Pitocin, the drug they use to induce labor, is known to cause a lot of complications during labor. Please avoid that if you can.

My ex when she was pregnant with my oldest was in similar situation. Doctor kept telling her that the baby would be born before Christmas, then it was New Year's, then it was next week. Finally he said if she wasn't in the hospital by the Super Bowl to show up at the ER at 7am. Guess where we were at 7am.
She went through the same situation as you're going through. She just wasn't progressing and the did induce her. Even that didn't help. The finally did a pelvic ultrasound and low and behold the reason she wasn't progressing was that her pelvic girdle was too small and the baby wasn't exerting the necessary pressure to start labor. My son was born by C-section and knowing that she would never be able to deliver naturally made things alot less stressful when she was pregnant again with my daughter.
