    hi all,

i recently suffered a miscarriage and since then have had horrendously painful periods - does anybody know if this is normal? i have mentioned it to my doctor but he just kind of dismissed it and said it was nothing.

    any advice would be appreciated!

I don't know if it's normal or not. But you should see a new doctor. One that will listen to you and take your concerns (and pain) seriously. It could be something that will go away in a couple of months, or it could be something serious. I would imagine that your uterus is just trying to push out all the extra lining and everything that was in there. That would cause some major cramps I would bet.

By the way, so sorry that happened and I hope you are recovering physically and emotionally.

Agree with previous post! I was going to advise you to 'fire your doc and find one who will listen', then I checked your profile and saw you were in England. My opinion remains the same, but I don't know how much choice you guys have re: chosing doc.s. (?)
How ya doing otherwise? I'm so sorry to hear you miscarried!! Been there myself. Take care, and if you just need to vent or whatever, please get in touch.

    thanks ladies!

i have an appointment tomorrow with a new lady doctor so hopefully will get things sorted out - think it will be good to talk to a female medic as well so i can open up a little bit about how its affected me emotionally.

im not sure how im supposed to feel about losing something that i never really wanted? i mean, i do want kids but nowhere near ready (financially or otherwise) yet i still feel like something precious has been taken from me? does that sound crazy?

No you're not nuts or being a sissy. Planned or not, losing a baby can be a big deal emotionally.

Yeah, your doc should have discussed your feelings, even if all he did was listen and give a few referrals. Another reason to fire him. Hope the appt goes well.

Of course it doesn't sound crazy. It's a difficult thing to have happen. For most women, I think from the moment they find out they are pregnant, a huge attachment takes place instantly. That motherly instinct springs to life, even if it is just a little bit and it is in you to protect. You're not crazy, you're human.

Find a caring Dr that will listen to you and help guide you through what you are going through.
