internal ultrasound to confirm pregnancy.. who has had one?

hey all, much like you guys, i found this site on google.

i am 56 days late for my period, and i have had negative home tests, and one negative blood test which i think was performed a little early maybe.

i had a period 14th dec 09 then the test on the 21st jan which was neg.

i did a few home tests, the most recent tonight.

i am actually booked in for an internal ultrasound this saturday to confirm if i am pregnant or not and wondered if any of you had one of these to confirm pregnancy?

also, i have been feeling like i am going nuts to be honest.

i havent been pregnant before but we have been trying for a few months now, and well, my symptoms are all there, the boobs getting bigger, the white lotion type discharge which is getting more by the day, missing the period, 24 hours of light bright red spotting at 10 days post ovulation, i also have been smelling everything more than usual and now i am sneezing non stop and have a crazy runny nose constantly.

so yeah..........

i hate the feeling of being all protective over my stomach and feeling certainly like there is a baby inside me, but not having the "proof" of it.

i hope the test this weekend shows up something... i guess i would be around 5 weeks pregnant, if indeed i am, so that means a sack will show up, right?

also, is it possible, that i am testing the home tests way too early if i am only 56 days since my last period?

IDK, blood tests to me tell everything.. I don't understand why they haven't suggested a second blood test?

I mean besides, our home pregnancy tests, they tell the real story.

Ultrasounds usually are once you have confirmed pregancy in my opinon

Yeah, I've had the u-sound exams. No big deal re: how it feels to you, but I wouldn't have one 'just because'. There is some (slight, but some) risk in running them. You have to weigh the benifits vs risks. Am surprised your doc would advise doing it just confirm pregnancy. Besides, it seems way too early in your pregnancy.
Look at other means of testing (blood, urine). I realy wouldn't do u-sound at this point.

hmmmm well i thought that too but it was under my doctors advice i am getting this ultrasound, not "just because".....

i will just get it done as its already booked.

Had one prior to a D&C. They use a wand that looks rather like a slender dildo. They use lube and just slip it in and no big deal. You'll be fine with it.

yup I had one with 2nd pregnancy... They could not hear a heartbeat at 16 weeks... Luckily all was well. It can be a bit uncomfortable but no big deal.

I also think they should do another blood test first...

I've had one done and a couple different occasions. (one to confirm pregnancy and one to check for cysts.)
If it's too early for the home pregnancy test, it will probably be too early to see anything with the untrasound as well. If nothing shows up on the untrasound, ask for another blood test.
