article to which I am referring
(I apologize if this doesn't make perfect sense, as I'm a little ill. But it was so cool I had to share.)
So they're now experimenting with ovarian transplants. Surgeries in which a woman who's had cancer and undergone chemo/radiation can no longer release viable eggs, but instead is able to now ovulate with a donor woman's woman's ovaries. In increasing number of cases, the recipient woman is able to conceive, using the donor woman's ovaries. That's amazing! The article above is where a woman with cancer was given a second chance to conceive and carry multiple children.
One of the things that sucks about having cancer as a women that's rarely talked about is that women that undergo chemo and/or radiation fry their remaining eggs in their ovaries. In the past, they've gotten around this by donating eggs before their treatment. Now they're starting to use donor ovaries after the chemo/radiation treatments to allow these women to have children.
So what do you think about this?
