High school health classes have a lot of people scared into thinking that pregnancy can, and WILL, happen at any moment. It instills this idea in women that regardless of any outer circumstances, if you don't have your period you're pregnant ... and even if you have it, you still could be! If he stuck it in you without a condom/pill, you're pregnant. It completely disregards how fertility really works and that every woman's body is different.
If you find yourself in a similar situation in the future (women who are TTC often feel the same anxiety, disbelieving negative tests, etc, so even if you never get off BC until you want to have kids, it might help) you would do yourself well to remember this. Home pregnancy tests are extremely accurate - kind of scarily accurate. I suggest the "early response" tests. There are a few relatively cheap ones out there. Some of these tests have been shown to detect volumes as low as 10 micrograms of HCG in urine. That's an EXTREMELY low number ... you can be 5 weeks pregnant and have a level of tens of thousands of micrograms.
So have faith in the powers of drugstores to provide super-sensitive hormone tests for under $10, and in the power of pharmaceuticals (or lack thereof) jacking up your body's homeostasis. And don't forget your backup method.

Women are female (adj,) but not females (n.) We aren't dogs.
