Hi. My wife is pregnant. She is 9 weeks old. She told me today that she feels like she wants to vominate and throw up sour things inside her mouth. She doesn't throw up. She swallows it back down. Does anyone know what kind of medicine or food she should eat? Like for example. She had an Orange a few minutes ago. And now she wants throw it up. (It is sour.) Well um can anyone let me know asap? Thanks.

It's hard to say what will or will not make her sick to her stomach. When I was pregnant with my last child I threw up the entire first three months. I couldn't keep anything down. Even water made me sick to my stomach.

It's probably going to take a little experimenting where she has to try different foods and see what works best for her. Usually saltine crackers and some soft drinks are suggested to settle a stomach.

I've often heard that if the pregnant woman eats a saltine cracker before she gets out of bed in the mornings it will help ......... but this may just be an old wives tale.

    Good luck and congratulations.
There is a method to my madness ........ I just haven't found it yet.

I threw up every day during both of my pregnancies. Saltine crackers, 7UP, toast, bland foods. Plain baked potato or mashed potatoes, chicken noodle soup or just the broth, applesauce, ginger snaps.

Eating smaller amounts more frequently seems to help too.

The types of soda that are usually recommended to settle an upset stomach are "white" sodas - so sprite, 7up, sierra mist... that kind of stuff. 7up is usually best as it contains the most natural ingredients.

Flavored sodas (fruity ones and colas) are so chock full of flavorings and additives they can sometimes make an upset stomach worse.

Best of luck to you and your wife and congrats! Hope she finds the trick to help her keep her food down
