Thread: postpartum concerns

i am 23 years old and i just had my first baby 7 weeks ago today. (he was delivered cesarean) 5 days ago i began what i thought was my "period" but now i'm not sure what it is...it started out light pink spotting and then dark DARK brown discharge. this discharge has continued for the past five days and it isn't heavy, it's fairly light but it is soooo dark. i'm used to very heavy, painful periods and i have never experienced discharge this dark. has anyone else experienced this? is this my period? thanks--AM

I had my daughter at 23 and had always had painful heavy periods. After she was born I bled every day for 6 months!! My doctor did blood tests and tried me on different birth control pills to stop it.I finally gave up the bc pills cause they were so strong and made me sick.Within a month my periods were back to normal. I think everyones body needs time to adjust to their hormonal changes. Talk to your doctor and remember hormones are very powerful!
