Question I ovulated on the pill!

When not on the pill I know when I ovulate, I get pain in the ovaries and mucus. So I am on the pill, but about the first week of my pack I was on antibiotics for a tooth infection, didn't have any sex that week. I had the mucus, perfect egg white strech and all on Saturday. On Sunday the left ovary had the cramps. I didn't think much of it as being ovulation at the time since I was on the pill, just thought I ate something maybe. I had sex on Tuesday, Thursday started spotting red, today still spotting, pantyliner is enough. Now I have lower abdominal cramps. What could be going on? Should I finish my pack of pills? It won't be bad if I get pregnant I'm an adult, just wasn't planning on it yet.

    Hi Heylala:

When the pill is working correctly, you should not be ovulating. Regardless, a pregnancy test will be valid about 2-3 weeks after the actual act, sometimes even four. (When you expect your actual period.)The pill will not interfere with the HCG hormone detection in the HPT. If you think you are pregnant, you should call up your doctor and stop taking the pills. A blood test can be done pretty quickly after conception, but I'd wait till you can test with HPT.

Welcome to the forums and good luck.

Some antibiotics can interfere with the pill and allow the release of an egg. I would take a home test and if it is neg I would continue with the pills, if it pos or looks positive stop the pills and see a doctor asap. However we are not doctors here and to ease your mind completely it would be wise to see a doctor.
