I am officially today 9 weeks pregnant. I am very excited since this is my first pregnancy. I am 5'4 so before i was pregnant i was gaining weight. I know i had bad eating habits ... taco bell, kfc ... etc. anyhow before i got pregnant i was already 10-15 pounds over weight. so i looked pudgy/chubby as my boyfriend would say. so far i have gained 5-6 pounds. i had my first appointment with the gyn//ob. it was very informative but when it came to what i eat she asked me to tell her what i was eating. breakfast: a sandwich with cheese or cereal with milk, snack on an apple, lunch: soup or ravioli <--- something like this ... and dinner whatever is being made ... rice, beans, chicken ... whatever is being made.

I don't feel like i'm eating too much and i completely eliminated fast food from my diet. If i feel hungry she wants me to have a salad ... a salad takes the hunger away for about 30 minutes and then i go back to eating.

I started walking everyday after work just to keep me moving. I am just trying to be healthy but the weight i was gaining before i can't do anything about it. This is what i think: yeah i should've been eating healthy before i got pregnant but now that i am ... i am eating different/healthy. i take my prenantal vitamins everyday ... i drink milk (which i hate drinking but i know its a must) and i'm just trying to have a fun and happy pregnancy. what do you girls think?

First of all congrats on your pregnancy.
As you know from my previous posts im also trying for a baby, been like about 4 months, may i ask how long you tried before you got pregnant?
Im overweight too and i am trying very to lose some weight before i get pregnant. i am 5'1 (a shorty ) and im like 29 pounds over weight, which is really kinda stressing me out. i think as long as you keep walking and being active and not eating junk you will on the right track.

    Default Thanks

Thanks for taking the time to respond and thanks for the supportive response. My appointment yesterday made me stressed. I didn't really try to get pregnant it just happened. I wasn't planned. I wish you much luck on getting pregnant.

well I just found out this week that I am about 5 1/2 weeks. I just made my first initial appointment and after reading this I'm a little nervous. I'm a plus size girl. I was on my way to loosing weight (dropped 40lbs) and then found out I'm pregnant. So I am nervous about what they are gonna be asking as far as what I eat. All doctors seemed to think that I sit around eat **** which isnt true anymore. Well except for the occassional ice cream run. lol. So if they give me **** I'm gonna tell them to "F" off. hee hee. And then I'll blame it on the hormones. lol

    I had the other problem.
    I don't eat.
My husband started cooking like ****
and I was doing pretty good with the
    throwing up part.

When I was nine months I had a pot
    belly...people didn't even know I was
    pregnant...they thought I was drinking
    beer...

With my other two, I got bigger, but
lost the weight cause...to be honest...
    I don't eat much.

I guess most of you would think I was
on a starvation diet, but really I'm small
and I don't get hungry that much...

I'm a vegan, and I ate a lot of fruit and
veges...and I tried to choke down what
    my husband cooked...

    Very balanced meals...no junk...

i was doing some reserch and read that overweight women or oversized women, doesnt have to gain alot of weight during there pregnancy, becuase they already have the weight to support the baby, however they will still gain a few pounds especially in the last trimester.

    Default hmmm ...

women that are overweight don't have to gain too much weight but the problem is that doesn't mean that we (over weight girls) aren't going to feel hungry like skinny girls. eating a salad doesn't satisfy only for an hour ... then what ... eat another salad? it just sucks. I am just going to have as happy of a pregnancy as i can and train after i give birth. I definitly don't want to keep this weight. Its okay to gain weight when your pregnant because its being done with purpose but after i'm definitly going to go back to excersizing like i used to. I encourage you guys to do the same. being over weight and pregnant at the same time isn't easy.

The doctor will advise you on what to eat and how much is the appropriate amount of weight to gain. you dont always have to eat a salads, it is said that whatever your body craves , have it just in portions.

    Default food smood

Girl your pregnat! This is the time to eat what you want and don't worry about it. You sound like you are eating the right foods. Keep doing what you are doing. Some doctors just like to talk. My sister was pregnant last year and she looked great! Her doctor was telling her she ate too much. I hate that. Do what you are doing. You are eating fine! Go swimming and stuff. Try to be active. Balance the food and excercise and you'll do great!
