Me and my husband have decided to try for a baby. Long story short I have had unusual and irregular periods since I was 15, I am 26 now. Was on the pill for about a year, have been off since last July. My periods now are not regular. I have read on ovulation, etc and have a plan in place. The last period I had ended about 2 weeks ago and it lasted 8 days but I don't think based on my cervical mucous I am near ovulation. We are still having sex about every 3 days though. One of the problems we are running into is that when he pulls out after sex, a lot of fluid leaks out even when I try to prop my hips up. It seems like all the sperm just flow out Is it normal for fluids to leak out like this??
I am also a little confused on the timing of ovulation and when to have sex. I know my egg will only live for 24 hours but sperm can live 3 days...but how fast do the symptoms of ovulation progress?I just don't want to miss it lol.

Oh, and I hold my legs up 5-10 minutes after sex and try to avoid using the bathroom for an hour after that to avoid flushing or wiping the sperm out. Are there any tips I can use to get pregnant faster?

First you need to pin point your ovulation. Get an ovulation test (they sell them in packs of 20), so you can test daily and find out when your LH is surging. Your chances of becoming pregnant maximize 24-36 hours AFTER this LH surge. It may also help to start charting your BBT for a few months.

As far as leakage, it is common, most of us on this forum have spoke at one time or another, we all have the "fall out" after sex.

If all else fails, head to the Dr. Be armed with all the information with what you have tried, etc. I know when I went in after trying for a couple of years, my Dr had me chart my BBT for 3 months, still no pregnancy, so I was put on Progesterone and Chlomid. A handful of cycles of that and I was pregnant.

    Good luck!

What I'm worried about is maybe the penis isn't getting in far enough and when he pulls out, even when he does it slowly, it feels like a lot of fluid. I have read about tipped uterus'...if I had a tipped uterus wouldn't the nurse have noticed it during my last pelvic exam? I have seen the ovulation tests at wal-mart, but only in packs of 2 that are a lot more than a preg test lol. These say to take it during your period....is this the same thing you are talking about lana?

Well, considering that the average sperm count is something like 60 MILLION per milliliter (last I remember reading anyways) and there are nearly 5 milliliters in 1 tsp of sperm. I doubt all of those little spermies are falling out. However, it does depend on motility of the sperm too.

If you did have a tipped uterus, I would imagine they would have told you at some point or another during an annual pap/exam.

The ovulation tests, that can't be the same... I've seen packs of 20 anywhere between $18-$30 and you definitely do not want to take them during your period. I would imagine about 10 days into your cycle. Answer and First Response are two of the brands I've seen in 20 packs.

You may want to just schedule an appt with your Dr., let them know that you have been trying to conceive for about a year with no luck, would like a check up just to make sure everything is good and see if he/she has any advice.

Also, if you haven't started already, it definitely wouldn't hurt to start taking prenatal vitamins.

Thanks! I was already planning on starting prenatal vitamins and I'm going to go to the dr here in a month or so for my yearly exam, just waiting for hubby's insurance at his job to kick in. I will look and see if I can find those ovulation tests. Thanks again!
