    Default First time pregnant...questions...

Okay, well this is my first pregnancy...And I have a lot of questions, some maybe stupid or may be common sense, but I still have them.

I just found out last week, I took 2 pregnancy tests and both came back positive. And I spoke to my doctor over the phone as well. My doctor said that it sounds like I am about 1.5 months along. Which is fine. I have a million questions, so here they are.

First of all, can you have sex when you are pregnant? I had sex twice since I found out and the first time I did not bleed, but the second time I did for about a day. Is that normal?

Secondly, how do you know if you had or are about to have a miscarriage? I do not feel pregnant, but I have had some of the symptoms.

Thirdly, what is a good website to visit to get information on this.

Fourthly, what can I eat and drink? I know I cannot drink alcohol or smoke, which I would never do in the first place.

Yes, you can have sex while you are pregnant. Unless you are a high risk pregnancy, which your Dr will tell you if you are or not, sex is perfectly fine.

You are only 1.5 months pregnant, it's not uncommon to NOT feel pregnant at that point.

You should follow a good well balanced diet and limit or eliminate your caffeine intake and sweets. It's natural to get cravings for certain things.

There are plenty of informative books out there. ' What To Expect When You Are Expecting' is an okay starter book and tells your how things are developing inside on a weekly/monthly basis.

First of all congratulations mum to be!
Its perfectly fine to have sex, unless like lanabear states you are told it is unsafe to do so. Make sure you have booked the initial docs appt, very important! They will put you in touch with the maternity dept, and you will probably get a letter for your first appt there.
Its not unusual to cramp in your first trimester, i cramped a lot on all four of my pregnancies, but if the pain is severe and you find blood then you should probably get it checked out, or even if your worried, do it to be sure for your minds sake. Nothing worse than worrying. The first pregnancy is quite overwhelming, what to expect, the changes, your body and you mind take on. Lots of helpful books and websites, simply google it, and you will find a lovely site with info im sure!

Things to avoid during pregnancy are as i know of, apart from smoking and drinking obviously. (passive smoking too)
Peanuts and peanut butter, raw fish, liver, rosemary (herb) as sometimes it can bring on labour, raw eggs, or undercooked eggs. A few that i can think of at hand, but search and you will probably find what your looking for. All the best and once more congrats, pregnancy is a wonderful time!

    xx
Take it easy! One step at a time x
