    Default 12 day cycle..crazy periods

Ugh, my July period started the 21 and the 2nd of August my period started again. Last period was very light and easy, no cramping. It was mostly spotting. This period started at 8:30 last night, extremely heavy, large clots. I use a pad and a tampon and I was changing my tampon every 20 mins. So I didn't get any sleep last night. I have been dizzy all day but it's getting better, felt very flushed, lots of lower back pain.
I was having symptoms to make me think I might be pregnant. Symptoms were increased sense of smell and a lot of odors make me queasy, no appetite, tender breasts, my lower abdomen felt "full"...these symptoms are still here.
When my period started the 21 I also started taking my BBT every morning, and testing with an OPK. My temp spiked at 97.7, went down to 97.3, then back up to 97.5 on the 2nd. If i ovulated I guess I missed it.
I am going to make an appointment with an OB/GYN soon to start getting tested to see if I even ever ovulate.
But with the symptoms(still having them) is it possible I might be pregnant? This period seems to be over...it didn't even last 24 hours though.
I have also started using fertilityfriend.

When I fell pregnant with my first child, the day I took a pregnancy test and it was positive I went to the toilet again afterwards to discover I was bleeding. It was bright red, but not that heavy. I got myself straight off to the doctor, he checked to see if my cervix was still closed (it was) told me the bleeding was hormonal. The bleeding lasted like a normal period and it never happened again, so yes you could very well be pregnant, even if you are bleeding.
When I first tried to get pregnant, I tried for a year just naturally, after a year I went to the doctor and he tested my hormones over a month and we found out that in that month even though I had my period, I didn't actually ovulate. Next month I went back to him pregnant. You never know when it will happen. Sometimes the stress of trying can be the problem.
    Good Luck!

What did the doc do exactly? Did he just do blood tests to check for ovulation every so often? Did he put you on something to make you ovulate? I think that must be my problem...I have periods..sometimes irregular ones with way shorter cycles than normal, but I have started temping and charting and I get the temp spikes that signal I may ovulate soon...then I get my period immediately after. It's like my body skips that stage completely. We have tried a year, not using bc or condoms, etc but haven't actually tried timing anything until a month ago.

When I first asked the doctor about checking my fertility, I had been trying for about 7 months. He told me to come back after I had been trying for a year...which I promptly did.

Firstly he told me I had to have blood tests. I can't remember exactly how many I had, but it was on certain days of my cycle, maybe a few, maybe half a dozen....it was 8 years ago now
He also sent my husband to get his sperm tested. He had to put it straight in a jar and drop it off at the collection centre within a very short time. Those results were normal.
My hormone test showed I didn't ovulate. He sent me for another hormone blood test the next month. This one showed I did ovulate.
I made an appointment for a couple weeks time to discuss my options, like fertility treatment and stuff.
Within that time I fell pregnant.
It was a relief for me to have actually gone to the doctor and have the tests, so in the week to follow when I fell pregnant...I didn't try at all, didn't even really think about it because I was thinking I would worry about it in a couple of weeks time when I went to see him again. And Bingo!

So if I could give you some advice....Go and talk to your doctor about getting yourself tested to see if you ovulate, get your partners sperm tested too, it is a bit funny and a bit awkward handing his sample over...but worth your piece of mind.
Have sex when you are fertile, when you have the clear stretchy egg white sort of mucus, but don't get obsessive about it, your stress can and will affect your cycle.
I have always had irregular cycles, sometimes short, sometimes long, sometimes not at all, and I obviously don't ovulate every month, but I have 2 beautiful boys now. I fell pregnant with my second within 1 month of trying.
And it goes without saying you need to be healthy to give your body the best chance of conceiving.
Also, If you have the money...go and see a Naturopath for some advice.
Goodluck and if you have any more questions, just ask.

Thank you! When my insurance kicks in I will go in and get tested. I've been spotting daily since my July period and it is getting on my last nerve! Most of the time it's not even enough to get on the pad but just in case I have to wear one all the time anyway. I think I'm about to get my period because I have spotted enough today to put on the pad and when I went without the pad overnight I got some on my underwear. It's heavier spotting than normal....so if I get my period I either missed my ovulation again or I didn't ovulate. I think some months I do...but some I don't. I get so so so aggravated at my stupid body, I've thought about just accepting the fact I'll never be a momma so I don't get my hopes up.

I spot for at least a week before my period, so I wear a pad for at least 12 days of the month. I know how you feel, and I really hope your doctor can help you sort things out. Goodluck!

    And a few other things...
I too went through the whole, what If I can't have children thing. I stressed a lot. And I am positive that stress was partly what was causing the problem.
Don't accept anything yet! That would be silly. Most women can have a baby. Someone I know just had a baby after 12 years of trying. She was overweight and she lost about 20 kilos and straight after she fell pregnant.
The statistics are very much in your favour to conceive. Please try not to stress about it. Maybe try some Yoga or something, try to get your body in a relaxed, harmonious state. There are also a few herbs that can help with regulating your cycle. Things like Chaste Tree. But I don't want to give you advice about that, I don't know enough about it. Try looking online for a site that talks about falling pregnant naturally, or natural fertility, or regulating your hormones naturally.
Don't worry, just about everyone I know who has tried to have a baby has taken over a year to conceive, but they all have.
Goodluck and update me on how you are going with it all! )
