Thread: hi im new- rly need help - possible infection?

Hi,
Im 21, i just had an abortion (an no i dont want or need to hear your opinion on that matter) on august 6th. so its been 5 weeks. about a week ago i started getting a little bit of discharge - its yellow now and ive had vaginitis twice before and it seems to be the same thing. Im going back for an exam and pap smear to my gyno in about 2 weeks. Is it possible that this discharge is from the abortion? and that i have an infection - that im just now noticing from that? or is it a little too long of a wait for an an infection to happen from an abortion that was 5 weeks ago?
Also i still have not started my period, and ive heard it can take up to 8 weeks, sometimes longer for your body to get back on track. should i be worried? any one else been in the same position?

First off, No one here would judge you or try to tell you that you should not have had an abortion/give you their opinion on the subject. We dont judge here.

I would imagine that 5 weeks would be enough time for an infection to manifest itself. I would say your best bet would be to either make an emergency appointment with your GP and tell them what you just told us, OR alternatively wait and see what your gynocologist says. Im pretty sure yellow/green discharge means a likely infection of some sort though.
