Default yeast infection during first trimester

I am currently 11 weeks pregnant and I have a yeast infection. I called my dr.'s office and he called me in a prescription of terconazole cream. Everything I've read about it including the warning label in the box says it should NOT be used in the first trimester because it can be absorbed through the cervix and it can get to the baby. I'm not sure I should use it or not. I don't want a yeast infection, but the medication he gave me is a category C drug, and I'm not comfortable taking it. I was wondering if anyone else has been prescribed this drug during the first trimester and what it did. Where there any side effects, or harm done to the baby. Also I would like to know of any other methods anyone has used to treat yeast infections during the first trimester. Thanks

I would just call your Dr back and verify that he recommends that you use it. Gently remind him that you are pregnant and that you read what you read and see what he says.

The dr. I called was my ob. He is aware I'm pregnant. The nurse I spoke to on the phone even asked me how far along I was. The warning label on the medicine still have me really concerned. That's why I wanted to find someone who has taken it before. Thanks for your quick response, I'm going to call back tomorrow to see if speaking to his nurse again will put my mind at ease. I would still like to hear a personal experience with this drug if anybody has one.

You could also ask the pharmacist too... Just a thought.
