Default Do HPTs work for all women?

My last period started 27th March, and I'm usually regular like clockwork - nothing since then. I've started feeling feeling sick at all times of the day, have headaches and have mild pains in my stomach (but nothing like the bad pains I get when I actually have my period.) I've done 3 tests and all come back negative.

The thing is when I had my last child, shes 9 now, I didnt suspect I was pregnant. I went to the doctor about sickness and general aches and pains, they did a urine test at about 8 weeks that came up negative and set me off with antibiotics instead (and even though I kept going back with sickness they kept sending me on my way without picking up the pregnancy). It was only when I moved back home (I'd been studying away at the time) that another doctor picked up my pregnancy at 15 weeks - and that was via a physical exam and confirmed by a blood test.

So now Im wondering if it is pointless taking a HPT since last time the one the doctor tried in surgery showed negative even though I was further along then than I suspect I might be now. I wonder if its possible that some women dont produce enough hormones to be picked up on a HPT?

I dont know what to do, I dont really want to go to the doctors since I had alot of bad experience last time round, and it feels like its too early to bother them yet. I'd like to just ignore it at least till period number 2 is missing or arrives. But then again I take prescription ADs and dont know if that would affect the pregnancy. And my daughter has got headlice from school (again ... grrr!) and some of the treatments warn against use if you are pregnant so thats another concern.

Default I do believe that hpt test does not work for all women

I do believe that hpt test does not work for all women. I had my last period March 29, 2007 it now May 24, 2007 and I haven't had a period yet. I took about a dozen of different types of hpt test they all came out negative, my symptoms are cramps, headaches, sleepness even when i get a good night sleep, back pains, hungry all the time, and gaining weight. Am going to the doctor tomorrow to see if am pregnant, if i am pregnant am going to ask the doctor why is it that some women show up on hpt and others don't.
