How did you get the contraceptives without seeing a doctor? You have to go to a doctor you have no choice no one can tell you what is wrong and you may need treatment.
Well I'm new here so I just thought I would introduce myself first. I'm 20 years old and have been in a really nice but long distance relationship for 4 years. Me and my partner ( who is 23) lost our virginities to each other and we are very much in love. However none of us are ready to start a family.
On August 14th we met up ( we meet up every few months) and had a lot of sex. I was careful though because before meeting up with him I went on Dianette ( contraceptive pill) for a whole month before we met up. ( I also took the pill correctly.) We also used a condom and I continued to take the pill while I was with him.
When we parted I continued to take the pill for about 2 weeks maximum after that, although I'm sure it was less. I didn't complete my next cycle as i stopped taking it, in the middle of the pack, after being told it was safe to stop taking it. One or two days after I stopped taking the pill I got a small bit of brown discharge with a little bit of blood. ''Great'' I thought, '' A withdrawal bleed ''
However, now I am extremely confused and worried because it is now the 17th of November and I STILL haven't started my period. I have had absolutely no symptoms of pregnancy; no headaches, nausea, morning sickness. The only thing that has happened here and there was a bit of vaginal discharge. On the 11th of November I felt period cramps and extremely wet. So I assumed I had started my period. When I checked, it was just white, thick discharge. I researched this and found out that it sometimes happens when you are close to your period. But I have also read its a sign of pregnancy...however this discharge was followed by extremely bitty discharge so I assumed I had a yeast infection. I'm generally very clean down there so I don't know how I got it. A few days after that I got an extreme amount of itching it was basically unbearable. I was alone at home and was constantly scratching all the way through my episode of DexterIt wasn't fun. Anyway, it stopped eventually. I no longer have itchiness but the bitty discharge is still there.
My friend doesn't think I am pregnant. My boyfriend doesn't think I am pregnant either. I went out today and got a Clear Blue Digital home pregnancy test and used it when I got home around 2pm today. My test said ''Not Pregnant''. I was soooo relieved, but now I am having doubts because I read some crazy internet stories about pregnancy tests. I had safe sex, pill and condom, have had no pregnancy symptoms and I haven't started my period yet and its been over 3 months since my last period. Is my cycle just messed up because of the pill? ( On a side note I have had irregular periods a lot and first started taking Dianette to correct this. I was young so I never really took it properly...like I missed lots of pills and messed up my cycle a lot. But I was never sexually active back then, I lost my virginity at 18 ) I still have another pregnancy test that I plan to use 3 days from now in the morning.
Please do not ask me to go to the doctors because it simply cannot happen as my doctor is in the next town, I don't drive and if I asked my mother to see the doctor she would be very suspicious. Its too risky for me and my parents would not be pleased knowing I am sexually active... I just can't go to the doctors. My mother is already concerned...
Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated, and if any extra info is required I will be happy to give some. Please, someone shed some light on my dilemma.Im really really really scared!

I had them previously for regulating my period. About 2,3 packs. Were not expired or anything.

But I thought you needed a RX to get them??
You live in America...right? Over here we can get them on prescription. I had a monthly prescription. So I had plenty.
But anyway this forum is called WOMENS HEALTH so women can DISCUSS these things. Hence why I am here.
Ok good luck.
You do, unless you buy online which likely will not be what you paid for. But she would have had to have a prescription at some point even if she did not choose to take the pills. But I thought you needed a RX to get them??
How long were you on Dianette in total? Just the month of September (since you said a whole month before your August visit) and then for that 2 or so weeks you say after your bf left? If it was just that rough 2 months then technically speaking your body may not have been totally in sync with the pill yet (some women it takes 1 week and some 3+ months). Stopping abruptly will cause your body to signal for your period, which the initial stage is the brown discharge, so that can be explained away because you stopped taking it in the middle of the pack. When we parted I continued to take the pill for about 2 weeks maximum after that, although I'm sure it was less. I didn't complete my next cycle as i stopped taking it, in the middle of the pack, after being told it was safe to stop taking it. Stopping abruptly can also cause your body to take time to get used to the non-presence of the pill. For women who have been on it for years then stop, can have no sign of a period for months. It is just the way the body can respond to the lack of substance that used to be there. So the lack of a period for the 3+ months can be the result of stopping the pill in the middle of the pack a few months back.
lol isn't it annoying when something interrupts a favorite show? Anyway, the white discharge which all women will experience at some point can be a sign of ovulation and like you said an imminent period. However with your other symptoms it was likely an infection, maybe yeast, no idea now but if the symptoms are gone it should not be a worry. As for how you can get it, its not exactly predictable. If the bacteria, or in your case yeast, want to cause an infection they will. Your bf may have actually given the infection by maybe not cleaning his penis enough before getting together with you (I am not saying he is unhygenic I am just saying it is a possibility). When I checked, it was just white, thick discharge. I researched this and found out that it sometimes happens when you are close to your period. You can wait a bit longer to see if you get your period, as well as take a pregnancy test, but if it continues you will need to eventually see a doctor. They can put you on another type of pill to help regulate your irregular periods (which can also be an excuse to use to have your mom take you to the doctor without suspicion). Also it would be a good idea to just stay on the pill the entire time you are sexually active, even if you do not see your bf often. Once you stop and go stop and go it can really mess up your cycles.

Hi, it's me again. Just leaving a post to say i have now take. 3 clear blue digital home pregnancy tests and they have all come out negative however still no period and it has almost been 4 months. Do you still think I could be pregnant?
I'm going to the doctor on Monday. Please pray for me.any advice will be greatly appreciated someone please shed some light! Thanks for the replies so far!
If those 3 tests were taken over a span of time (say every few weeks) and not one after the other then it is likely that you are not pregnant. However the only way to tell 100% is through a blood test with your doctor.Just leaving a post to say i have now take. 3 clear blue digital home pregnancy tests and they have all come out negative however still no period and it has almost been 4 months. Hi yes those tests were taken over a space of a few weeks. Today i think I got my period. I got lots of cramps and when I checked I was bleeding. However I only have small amounts of dark brown reddish blood. Not full on heavy period. It's got a very foul chemical ish smell too. Is this my period or something else? Lots of pain and what not... Typical period feeling. Off to doctor on Tuesday.
