Default Conceiving after 7.5 years of using birth control

I know this will change for everyone, but I'm just wondering what it was like for everyone else.

I have been married for 2 1/2 years and my husband and I are wanting to conceive in the beginning of 2011. I know things don't always go exactly how you want them to go, but that's the plan.

I went off the pill approximately a month ago. The doctor said to go off a few months before actively trying to conceive. I had my first period a week ago, but it didn't seem normal. I had almost no blood, just brown discharge. I had one day that there was a little blood but it was nothing like I remember my periods being before I went on the pill. It wasn't even as heavy as when I was on the pill.

I guess I'm wondering if after 7.5 years on BC does this light period mean I'm not ovulating? Did this happen to anyone else when going off the pill to try to conceive? If so, how long did it take?

I'm really not worried, just more curious. Thanks

You need to give your body some time to expel all the hormones from the pill usage.

And really, it just depends on your body and how it decides to handle everything. I was on the pill for 3 years when we decided to try to conceive our first child. It took me another 2 years to actually fall pregnant after I stopped the pill and that was with my Dr's assistance. However, some women, stop taking the pill and boom are pregnant the next month.

After 3-6 months, if you body hasn't gotten on some type of schedule, I'd get with your Dr.

Yeah....I think it depends on your body too. I was on the pill for 2 years. But according to my doctor, I have a choice. Finish all the pills and stop for 7 days so that I will have my menses and then continue the pills again. Or I just continue taking the pills for as long as I want to.
My decision was to stop for 7 days so that I can have my menses and to ovulate. I think this is better so that my ovary don't become lazy and my uterus wall can shed off. Healthier for my ovary and uterus I think. I stopped the pill for 2 months and got pregnant. hehehe
