Recently I lost my preganancy at 9 weeks and was given the usual options from my physician, however he rushed through the explanations with very little opportunity for questions. His recommendation was strongly for a D & C, however after discussing this option with several people I've been told that it's possible and safer to become pregnant sooner if I opt for the medication instead. My main focus here is to shoot for a safe pregnancy as soon as possible after this process with the lowest risk for another miscarriage. Is there anyone who can provide any insight/guidance on this?

i almost have that kind of situation as yours but as early as i imagined how things got to worst, i think of my child's future indeed. i am having difficulty in terms of being disappointed with my relationship to the father of my child and so getting depressed alarms me a lot that it might affect my baby's development. with this case, i take up *removed outbound link* so just to be sure my baby's fine. but with good hopes and the will to pursue whatever it takes, i am now a proud mom of beautiful girl. (fyi: i am a single parent )

I really dont know much on this topic, but can say based on our one time experience. D & C is a safe and fast procedure to proceed. I have been told that the natural process of miscarrying can be hurtful (and emotionally disturbing). I think after 3 months of a D & C, one can begin the process of conceiving.

Your miscarriage in 9 weeks is within quite common; statistically 1 out of 5 pregnancy end up in miscarriage within 12 weeks of conception. But once one moves ahead of this 12 week period (and 15 weeks to be safer), the chances of miscarriage is very low. Now, once you get a miscarriage, the chance of miscarriage in the second attempt for pregnancy goes pretty low (from 1 out of 5 to 1 out of 300). I am sure your second attempt will go fine. Good luck.

So far as i have spoken to one of my friend who is a health care practitioner, he mentions a D & C is a better option than the natural one.

I wish your doctor had taken time to have a good conversation / consulatation for you; i think such doctors should be confronted and mentioned how shallow he/she appears to be.
