    Default General Question

I just have a general question about pregnancy. I looked in several threads and several pages back but could not find an answer.

I have looked at several web pages and in several books and they all seem to say something different when it comes to when the nausea of pregnancy starts. Some say 2 to 3 weeks after and some say it can be days after you become pregnant.

I have asked my mom about when she was pregnant with me and she told me her nausea started days after she conceived me (apparently she only did the deed once that month, way more then I had ever wanted to know).

I know I have had unsafe sex several times, stuff happens and you don't always think clearly during the heat of the moment (I am really pissed at myself). However I know it should be too soon to start feeling nausea if it turns out I am pregnant, which considering I felt some cramps and mild pain on my left side the day of is more likely then I wish to think. It has only been a week, however I never get nauseous outside of a moving car so it scared me. It has happened at least once a day for the past 2 days and I actually threw up at the smell of cooking beef.

I know while the chances of me being pregnant are low (but still there) I was curious in general about it and curious of others opinions.

If someone else already had a thread about this I am sorry for the repeat, I just couldn't find it and lost patience to look.

Nausea after becoming pregnant can start early. There is no given absolute guidelines about how a woman's body will react to the new and more hormones circulating in her body. Initially the production of such hormones is low, but they ramp up as they prepare the uterus for the implantation of the fertilized egg. After implantation more hormones prepare the uterus for the growth and needs of the fetus.

Nausea triggered by the odor of certain foods is also common. It has been theorized that it is a woman's body's way of getting the nutrients she needs while rejecting foods that have the wrong ones. However, it probably wouldn't matter if she ate every type of vitamin and mineral as well as all micro-nutrients, she would still most likely experience nausea.

Did the guy want to get you pregnant? If not, why didn't he use protection or at least make sure you were using it?

Where were you in your monthly cycle? Where are you now? Some times in your cycle you are relatively infertile and other times relatively fertile.

Have you used a home pregnancy test?

Honestly I have no clue if he does or not, but it would not surprise me if it was on his mind. He knew I wasn't on it because I made sure to tell him and at the time we just discovered my apparent allergy to latex. That learning curve was not fun.

In my cycle I had just finished menstruating or had just finished two days before, I normally have light spotting in the last 3ish days so it is never clear cut on when it ends. I average a 30ish day cycle and according to my calculations normally I would be ovulating in about a week, but I can feel when I ovulate and I have started within the last year ovulating within a week of my period ending and every now and then ovulating again two weeks before my period. I had my doctor confirm my theory of this in my last visit.

I have not used a HPT yet because I do not believe enough time has passed to get a reading. Mainly the reason I asked about the nausea is because I experience it so little outside motion sickness. It was startling to experience it the past couple of days and adding in the aversion to the smell of cooking beef.

This one seems to have started almost a week late and is again super light and staying bright red.

I would not have thought anything about it, except I have been getting nauseous everyday for a week, have had very strange food cravings, my breasts are swollen and tender and I am acting moodier than I normally would.

I know my best bet would be to take a pregnancy test, but I have not worked up the courage and would like to hear a few other opinions on it.

You were experiencing nausea several months ago from your previous post.

If you google [Calendar-based contraceptive methods wiki] and go to the Wikipedia hit, you will get a wheel representing a calendar of a woman's menstruation cycle. An additional piece of information is that sperm can live up to 5 days in the inner folds of the uterus. It cannot live that long in the vagina as the environment there is too acidic. The egg is viable for 24 to 48 hours after release into the fallopian tubes.

Therefore if you have sex on the 3rd day after the start of menstruation, there is an outside shot of getting pregnant. Every day after that has higher possibility until day 8 which maximized the possibility without knowing when the egg was actually released.

If I assume you had flow for 3 days and spotting for 3 more days, but ovulated a week after finishing menstruating, I would assume you ovulated on the 10th day. Sex from the 5th day on until the 11th or possibly 12th could possibly impregnate that egg.

Sadly with the case several months ago I experienced a miscarriage, based on a doctor visit I had she told me I had only been 3-5 weeks along at the time. The man I was with at the time resented me afterwards and we are no longer together. At the time I didn't know I was pregnant and continued to drink with a couple of my friends, I was told it was probably not the reason I lost it, but still. I have been removed from BC since then.

Thank you for the information. It came in very handy to know.

It is not good that it isn't a decision by the two of you and also that your relationship is so new. If you are pregnant is he prepared for the consequences? Are you?

Well it is something I have been preparing my life for, greatest goal in life if you will I suppose you could say. The fact that the relationship is so new worries me, even though we have known each other for years.

I have seen him around kids and can honestly say he is great with them, and I am a "natural mother" is what I have been called for years. I have set up a job I love that is perfect with being a mom.
